Clock Tower of Ford Museum - Blend of History and Innovation

The Henry Ford Museum in the US has dozens of experiences and a few more surprises packed inside its huge building complex spread over acres of land. The museum is located in Dearborn, Michigan.

At its iconic entrance is a striking clock tower. It welcomes visitors with its historic charm and architectural beauty.

Sitting atop the entrance to a treasure trove of American innovation and history, this clock tower with four dials on each side sets the stage for an engaging exploration of exhibitions that celebrate the legacy of Henry Ford and the Industrial Revolution.

Read here - how to reach the Ford Museum from downtown Detroit for 1 dollar.

The local tour guide told me that the clock was originally located in London in Europe, and was placed on top of a jewelry store. Henry Ford purchased, and brought it over to the US.

Not just that, Henry Ford also erected the museum building to resemble Independence Hall in Philadelphia.

I noticed that the clock tower was made of thousands of bricks, and there was no plaster covering it.

Though at the same time, the road was also paved with bricks. It seems a century ago, bricks were very popular in this part of the world for building and road construction.

The tour guide also told that the pendulum rod of the clock was made of a special alloy called INVAR, to prevent expansion and contraction in the extreme weather of Michigan.

This keeps the clock in perfect time both in summer and winter.

I found this clock tower to be very rare and beautiful - a bonus that helped average out the steep entrance fees of US$40.

Thanks to Google Maps for making the trip planning and exploration around easy.

Though, what amazes me immensely is this fabulous logo designed by Koushik Mahato @mahatokoushik623

It showcases the rich art and culture of West Bengal.

Your detailed explanation of the Henry Ford Museum and its iconic clock tower truly brings the place to life. The blend of history, innovation, and architecture is beautifully highlighted. I especially loved learning about the origins of the clock and how it traveled all the way from London to Michigan — that’s a fascinating piece of history! :alarm_clock:

@TusharSuradkar very informative information about the clock tower. You highlighted the brick road, this is back to long time ago when they just build the road, way before asphalts used. The brick road in Dearborn looks like the re-done one. The original and first brick road started from Michigan Ave in Detroit, this road will take you all the way to Chicago (of course it is not using the brick all the way to Chicago). This can be done in your next visit to explore Michigan Ave from Detroit to Chicago . The original brick road can be seen Detroit but it is very deteriorating due to the age.

The $40 was a basic price for entry to the museum.

They added much more on top of that amount for exclusive access to special sections of the museum, @Annaelisa
