James Scott Memorial Fountain in Detroit

The James Scott Memorial Fountain on the Belle Island off Detroit is a Massive fountain built in 1923, featuring white marble bowls and spouts shaped like lions and turtles.

I was there in the beginning of June 2025. So the weather was great and it was a nice place to simply bask in the sun.

It was built by and in memory of James Scott who contributed a lot to the built up of facilities in Detroit more than 100 years ago. There is also a statue of James Scott on very close to the fountain.

The fountain was a beauty to enjoy and the marble was clean with attention to detail that was beyond belief.

The fountain looked very exotic, relaxing and laid-back.
This is a perfect place to hangout when there is a perfect weather.

A bridge connects downtown Detroit with the Belle Island.

My heartfelt thanks to @Erna_LaBeau and @keithlabeau who took me to this place in their car and wait paitiently as I took a brief walk admiring the beauty of this lovely marble amusement on the Belle Island.

The restrooms were a bit far away near the aquarium, but were clean and accessible.

There were a lot of people taking their dogs for a walk or jog around this beautiful fountain.

All over the place, there were recycling bins to ensure waste was segregated and recycled.

:wheelchair_symbol: Accessibility

Reserved parking was available for the differently abled.
Also, the entire area was neatly leveled for wheelchair accessibility.

Thank you @Annaelisa
Sadly, they are removing it later this year.
And probably making a new one.
So these are perhaps the last few photos of this beautiful fountain.
