I’ve been to conference places, huge convention centers, but the Huntington Place in downtown Detroit is so huge, it is like a village.
I’ve been visiting here since 2008, and the recent visits were in May 2019 and June 2025.
This place is so large, it has a local elevated metro to go around it.
One of the stations of the Detroit People Mover is right inside the Huntington Place.
The passageways in the Huntington Place provide opportunities for endless walking.
The lobby area is so huge, it can accommodate a 5-story building
Note the staircases with 3 flights and the enormous escalators.
Here’s the view of the skyscrapers of Detroit when standing just outside the Huntington Place.
Here’s the view from the back side of the place.
The black building in the distant far hosts the global headquarters of 3 iconic automobile companies viz. Ford, GM, and Chevrolet.
There is also the Detroit Princess Cruise on the Detroit River, and also seen is the elevated track of the People Mover train.
This view shows an oil tanker moving on the River Detroit, and on the other side is Canada, meaning the river is an international border.
The Huntington Place is dedicated to sustainability, and they often display this on their large LED display on the front side.
On the occasion of the PRIDE parade in Detroit, they displayed this, and I was right there to capture this moment.
When I visited here in June 2025, I took the opportunity to pose with an F1 racing car:
The top public attraction inside the Huntington Place is a full-size statue of Joe Louis:
