The Historic Brown Brothers Cigar Factory in Detroit

The historic Brown Brothers Cigar Factory was located on 119 State Street in Detroit.

It was later closed, and now it is occupied by Burns & Wilcox.

I discovered this via a tiny marker plate while walking on the fabulous sidewalk footpaths in Detroit in June 2025.

A century ago, the cigar manufacturing business was the largest cigar factory under one roof in the world.

The Brown Brothers were known for the iconic cigar brands like Cremo, Newsboys, Fontella, Carmencita, and Evangeline.

Here are some of the amazing manhole covers on the streets of Detroit.
I noted them while walking endlessly on the streets of Detroit in June 2025.
I like the interesting geometric patterns on them.
Some are also colorful and have the Detroit City insignia on them.

If you decide to walk, the streets of Detroit are filled with amazing relics of the past waiting to be discovered.

Here’s a view looking away from the building towards the square.
Isn’t this an amazing view?
