Detroit - Step on The Point of Origin

Just when I was entering the Parc Hotel in Detroit, I noticed an unusual circular mark on the floor.

It was etched with the words - POINT OF ORIGIN - DETROIT, MICHIGAN
.

Bingo..! I realized this was similar to the Zero Point in Pune that I visited last year.

I also realized that it was the same hotel where we had a great dinner back in 2019.

Though I did not notice this mark since we were there in the dark of the night.

These stones or marks typically denote the starting point of measuring distances to other cities.

In the case of Detroit, it was at this location that the first European immigrants set foot.

Here’s the entrance of Parc Hotel at the entrance of which the zero stone is located:

Here’s the view of the Parc, from across the street, a tip that comes from the mobile photography series by @FahmiAdimara

It’s very interesting that you accidentally discovered the ‘The point of origin ,’ which is similar to the ‘zero point of Pune.’ Thanks for sharing this. Is there any historical monument, park or marker at that point? Thank you @TusharSuradkar ji for taking the time and sharing many interesting things with us.

Interesting question @PrasadVR ji
No, just this marker tile or stone - that is all at that place.
But I praise the people for at least having it placed there and maintaining it nicely - just that it is almost impossible to find it
