Rosa Parks - A quiet force of resistance and equality

Rosa Parks was “the quiet strength that ignited a movement.

This phrase captures her courageous act of refusing to give up her bus seat in Montgomery in 1955, which sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott and became a turning point in the fight against racial segregation.

I had the opportunity to see the original bus at the Ford Museum in Detroit during my visit there last summer.

This vehicle captures her calm yet resolute defiance, showing how one courageous act of refusing to give up her seat became the spark for the Civil Rights Movement.

Rosa Parks refusal reflects both her personal bravery and her broader contribution to advancing justice, equality, and dignity in society.

The revitted sheetmetal body of the bus took in travel back to the days when Rosa Parks and many like her were silently suffering the racial discrimination prevalent in those days.

They have made a handrail to enter the bus and view it from inside, though I did not notice any ramp for a wheelchair bound person.

This was a rare opportunity to sit on the bus where Rosa Parks took a stand for freedom, with inspiration from Martin Luther King Jr.

@Erna_LaBeau It’s nice that she is remembered in many ways. I first read about her in a social book a few years ago, with other leaders who fought for social justice.
