Detroit Veterans Memorial - The Legacy of American Heroes

The Veteran’s Memorial is hosted in the UAW-Ford Joint Trusts Center in downtown Detroit.

UAW is United Automobile Workers in America.

There is also a statue of Abraham Lincoln who was the president of the US during its Civil War.

As I walked around the accessible park around the statue during June 2025, I also saw an impressive Eagle made in bronze mounted on the wall.

The motto of the US e pluribus unum was engraved on it.
It means out of many, one.

Information about the artists and donors of the Abraham Lincoln statue was also found inscribed on a granite slab.

History of the memorial building is also inscribed on a metal plate on its walls.

It was a delightful experience walking around the memorial.
On the north side was the iconic GM and Ford Global Headquarters building.

Panning to the left was the glorious skyline of Detroit.

When I watched my steps, I could not resist nothing the amazing geometric patterns on the manhole covers. I find these fascinating. They are similar to the one found in Pune and also are equally dusty

On the tour of the Veteran’s Center, I will leave you with this thought:

Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it. It flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it.

Zu den Kanaldeckeln, ja der Staub ist wohl überall gleich lästig, da hilft eventuell ein kräftiger Regen
