A Majestic Public Clock at a Temple Entrance in Kolhapur

In August 2024, I visited Kolhapur for the first meetup of local guides in town.

The top place to visit in Kolhapur is the Mahalaxmi Temple.

The photo below is one of the entrances of the temple.
As I looked around for flower shops, my wife called attention to the amazing public clock atop the entrance.

The clock was huge and looked amazing on the black basalt stone background of the majestic entrance gate of the temple.

The cusped arches and the Toran gate below coupled with the holy vibes of the place was a heavenly experience.

This was not a clock tower but a public clock, that I love to discover and appreciate.

Public clocks are like local guides - they give people information selflessly and consistently

Yes…during that time Camera was allowed inside the temple and was able to take this shot but later it got restricted.

Nowadays due to selfie culture, the temple vibes get disturbed.
But if there is a group of senior pilgrims taking a group photo as a memory, they tend to not object.

Also, I forgot to mention @Kumaarsantosh that I am astonished you could retrieve your photos from 11 years and 15 years ago.

I too keep a lot of CDs and DVDs with photos back to 20 years, but retrieving them is a hassle. My CD driver is also spoiled now. So last week I purchased a new one that connects through USB. Now the mammoth task of extracting all photos from the DVDs, segregating them, and storing them neatly on an external SSD or on Google Photos that are in thousands.

How is your experience with photo storage and retrieval.

Hi @TusharSuradkar,

Since the year 2004-2005 I started storing my data in EHD as gradually CD/DVD drive was getting removed from the Laptop devices. This has some disadvantages also.

Prior to that I had my data in Floppies and CDs, most of them I was able to transfer into EHD but in the whole process I lost some data as well due to EHD crash and getting them recovered from the third party is a costly affair.

I think you are doing the right thing to move them on external SSD though it is a bit expensive but more secure and portable in comparison to EHD. Google Photos again is a bit expensive and involves reccurring cost if you have photos in TB.
