Pune Local Guides add a Clock Tower to Google Maps

Last month, @ShubhamWaman picked me up from the Nal Stop Metro Station in Pune.
We were heading to the meetup by Durga.

He knew about my passion for adding Clock Towers to Google Maps.
He had good news for me.

On the way to the metro station, he discovered a clock tower.

The clock tower was at the corner of Paud Road and Karve Road.
It could be easily missed because the traffic flows in the opposite direction.

Shubham took me there on his bike and waited patiently by the roadside as I took photos and added them to Google Maps from the location.

The clock tower was elegant and charming.
So, I spent more time marveling at its looks as Shubham waited for more time smiling knowing it was difficult to take my eyes off this masterpiece.

When I reached home, I got an email saying the edit was approved.

Well तुम्हाला माहिती आहे का की हे clock towers का बांधले गेले आहेत.,
अस सांगतात की प्रत्येक जण पूर्वी clock घेणं afford करू शकत नव्हता म्हणून उंचावर मोकळ्या जागेत जर ही clock towers बांधली तर संपूर्ण शहर किंवा गाव वेळ बघू शकायचे…हे ते बांधण्या मागचं reason होत…

बाकी अजून कुणाला जर ह्या clock towers बांधण्या मागचं कारण माहिती असेल तर सांगा…मला जाणून घ्यायला आवडेल…

However, that was true for the clock tower built in the olden days.

But some clock towers are being installed in 2024 as well.
The clock tower on Pune’s Karve Road and Paud Road are recent installations, where everyone has a wristwatch or mobile to check the time.

These new ones are built by private companies as advertisements.
If you zoom in on the clock tower in this post, it is erected by a company called Gangotree, which is a construction company in Pune.

Nevertheless, it is heartening to see new clock towers coming up along with the old ones adding to the charm of the city.

Clock Towers are hard to spot.

But Lamp Posts are easy to discover, mostly in Shiv Temples, Bhairavnath Temples, and Vitthal Temples.

They are always present and if the temple has some space around it, they will always erect a DeepMaal.

Hey @SayliWalve if you eagerly waiting to visit clock Tower then please go to Thane.

1. Thane East , chedni koliwada here is on e clock Tower
2. Thane west, jambhali naka here is one clock Tower

Both clock tower is walkable distance from Thane railway station. Hardly take 10-15 minutes.

I found this tower on the way to the Thane meetup last year from the Vandana bus stand via an auto rickshaw. When I saw this clock tower, I asked the auto-wala to stop briefly and step out of the auto to capture a few photos and marvel at its beauty.
The name is Dharmaveer Anand Dighe Tower.
