The New Public Clock in the City Market of Pune

None of the photos on Google Maps for the City Market of Pune called the Mandai shows a public clock.

This is because it was installed recently.
I am so happy to be the one capturing the upgraded structure with the public clock last weekend.

Clock Towers are a European feature and the British brought them to India.
The city market was originally called Reay Market and was later renamed to sound more friendly and easily pronounced. Now, it is called the ‘Mahatma Phule Market’.

This is an 8-winged structure hosting a specialty of small businesses like fruits, vegetables, daily needs, utilities, steel utensils, and so on.

Here are my previous clock tower visits:

  2. Surat Clock Tower

As rightly mentioned by our @PrasadVR , Clocktower has become synonymous with you…I do agree.
This is a good information - any idea about which company has made/installed it?
Thanks for the post dear @TusharSuradkar

Thank you for the kind appreciation @PrasadVR @TravellerG
The property belongs to the municipal corporation.
So my guess is that it was installed by the government.
Although there are several other privately-owned clocks installed in the public as an advertisement.
I found those in Pune as well and will publish about them shortly

Correct :+1:
The British had one of their earliest camps, out here, in Pune back in 1818.
This structure is probably from the 19th century @ReshamDas
