How to travel from Detroit Airport to Downtown

Local guides exist to help everyone by sharing their personal experiences, tips and tricks saving time and money for fellow travelers.

I reached Detroit in the US on Sunday, where the international airport DAX is located $40 by taxi away from the downtown city center, to put across straight.

I booked the DAX bus from their website. It cost me $6 and no extra tips :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

After baggage and customs, I went to Level 3 and specifically gate 1, which is also marked Mexico Air, and Air France.

Here’s the gate 1 of Detroit airport, on level 3

There was a bench for resting for those who wanted to.

The bus was accessible for the disabled via a adjustable ramp.

The bus took about 20 minutes to reach downtown, and dropped on Washington Street.

The lady driver of the bus was rude or unfriendly and did not answer my following questions:

  1. Does the bus stops at COBO Center?
  2. Is the pick point same as the drop point?

She simply asked me to Google it :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Hauptsache gut angekommen, auch unfreundliche Menschen gibt es überall. @TusharSuradkar
War das ein Direktflug oder mit Zwischenstopp. Ich wünsche einen schönen und angenehmen Aufenthalt.

One way she had promoted google @TusharSuradkar bhau.
It’s cultural differences as the lady driver may wish to make you more independent in their country.

That’s a valuable information you provided us @TusharSuradkar .

We can see the bus is wheelchair accessible, isn’t it?

Can we edit the accessibility and women only seats in Transit option (for that bus) on Google Maps?

@TusharSuradkar Ji, thanks for sharing this super helpful update, especially for first-time travelers to Detroit! :raising_hands: Your detailed directions from Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) to downtown via the DAX bus are incredibly useful — $6 vs $40 by taxi is a major travel hack! :money_with_wings::bus:

Too bad about the bus driver’s lack of courtesy — not the warmest welcome, but your persistence in figuring things out anyway is commendable!

You are most welcome @TusharSuradkar ji

Simply ignore those people, @TusharSuradkar. But $6 is very much affordable and must be comfortable as well.

Enjoy! Cheers!

Yes, looking at the exterior of the bus, the interiors were lavish and comfortable.

But unfortunately, that denied information could not be included in the post :frowning:
That is what I feel bad about.
