How to edit LGBTQ+ friendly attribute for a place on Google Maps

Hello Fellow LGs,

Let us join hand and contribute to the Challenge : Support Local LGBTQ+ Friendly Businesses - Pride with Local Guides launched by LG @Rahul001 for inclusivity and to support the LGBTQ+ community.

A simple step can make a huge difference to the community and its impact is going to be in multiples of your small act.

We have got an awesome app Google Maps through which such impact can be created for the community. As we take pride in inclusive space for everyone, let us contribute to Increase Visibility on LGBTQ+ :rainbow_flag: friendly businesses and places.

One of the simplest yet effective ways to show that a place is LGBTQ+ friendly is by updating the LGBTQ+ friendly attribute for a place on Google Maps.

How to Edit LGBTQ+ :rainbow_flag: friendly attribute for a place on Google Maps:[1]

Here are the step-by-step guidelines to be followed to edit LGBTQ+ friendly attribute of a place on Google Maps. And, to explain hands on experience, I have taken the example of Khan Market, New Delhi, Delhi 110003. This is also one of my contributions on LGBTQ+ community on Google Maps.

Step 1: Go to the profile of the business on Google Maps. In this example Khan Market and tap on About as shown in Photo 1.

Step 2: Go to Edit features tab under Features as shown in Photo 2.

Step 3: Go to Amenities and Crowd sections as shown in Photo 3.

Step 4: From the given descriptions, tap a description to change it to:

  • True True
  • False False
  • Unsure Unsure

as shown in Photo 4 and Photo 5 and tap on the Submit.

I have edited LGBTQ+ friendly attributes for Khan Market as depicted in these photos as True for Gender-neutral toilets and LGBTQ+ friendly crowd.

Once the Submit is tapped, you get a Thank you message as shown in Photo 6.

It is so simple to edit LGBTQ+ friendly attribute for a place on Google Maps. It does not take much of time but its impact is huge and spread the inclusiveness.

Hope you find this post useful.

Keep building a well-informed community stronger :flexed_biceps: together.

Stay Happy, Stay Healthy!

Hi @Kumaarsantosh

Great info.

We could add that Edit features is not always available. New places need some time before this feature becomes available.

Also, it is worth noting that we do not earn Local Guides points for making such feature edits.
