Pride with Local Guides is excited to celebrate
& shine light
on this International Non-Binary Day, July 14th. This day is to celebrate & promote awareness about Non-binary spectrum and individuals among the community.
As a Non-Binary individual, I always look out for freedom of expressing oneself. For me, inclusivity has always been “not judging about gender orientation, sexuality & gender expression” and facilities provided by the local businesses.
What does Non Binary mean?
Non Binary is an umbrella term which comes under Transgender
(as T in LGBTQAI+). As the Binary spectrum of Transgender includes Transwomen & Transmen, Non-Binary is a gender identity that’s not exclusively male or female.
Non Binary identity is always knowing the inner sense of self with identities being diverse & valid.
Types of Non-Binary spectrum.
- Having a gender that’s neither a male or female.
- Having a gender with a combination of male & female.
- Having no gender (agender).
- Having a gender/gender identity that may change over time (genderfluid).
Note : There’s a lot more types of Non-Binary identity which classifies identity into types of gender identities. Those are derived from the 4 types mentioned above.
How we as a Local Guide celebrate Non Binary Day & be the voice of inclusivity on Google Maps.
When we talk about inclusivity in a business, it means providing space & experience which everyone feels respected, safe and valued. With that in mind, we can celebrate this day with our Non-binary friends by contributing towards Accessibility & Inclusivity.
- Gender Neutral bathrooms
- for non binary individuals, accessing safe and comfortable bathroom/toilet spaces can be challenging. By reviewing, adding photos & editing attributes of businesses we visit, Local Guides can help create a more welcoming, inclusive and accessible environment. - Reviewing Inclusivity
: Reviews can highlight the inclusive atmosphere of a business and mentioning inclusive ambience & respectful diversity can make way to inclusive contribution. - Adding missing Informations/Attributes : if you came to business with Gender Neutral bathroom or is LGBTQ+
Friendly, make sure to edit such attributes on Google Maps. - Accessibility information

: we can add Accessibility information as a photo of entrance or sign board, review & editing attributes of a business. This way local guides can point to accessible LGBTQ+
friendly spaces on Google Maps which includes community spaces to museums.
Let’s celebrate this day with Inclusivity and contributions on Google Maps which promote diversity & ensure every local guide feels seen, heard & valued.
