How to edit Accessibility attribute for a place on Google Maps

Hello Fellow LGs,

Accessibility is a vital element of our society. It adds to the quality of life of people with disabilities and aged persons. It also gives comfort to their family members.

Keeping Google Maps up to date with the accessibility information is of utmost importance for the Local Guides. This way LGs are creating a bright accessible future for everyone who are in need in some point in time.

I personally believe in editing accessibility information on Google Maps more as someone somewhere is going to be benefitted because of this act of mine. I feel that this is one of the best ways to help the society as rightly said,

Accessibility Removes Barriers and Unlocks the Possible!

One Billion people worldwide have disabilities.[1] We should contribute to make their life easier through Google Maps by contributing on Accessibility and also help them with Digital Accessibility.[2]

Let us contribute to Increase Visibility on Accessibility.

One of the simplest yet effective ways to show that a place is Accessible is by updating the Accessibility attribute for a place on Google Maps.

How to Edit Accessibility attribute for a place on Google Maps: [3]

Here are the step-by-step guidelines to be followed to edit Accessibility attribute of a place on Google Maps. And, to explain hands on experience, I have taken the example of Gola Sizzlers, Khan Market, New Delhi, Delhi 110003. This is also one of my contributions on Accessibility on Google Maps.

Step 1: Go to the profile of the business on Google Maps. In this example Gola Sizzlers and tap on About as shown in Photo 1.

Step 2: Go to Edit features tab under Features as shown in Photo 2.

Step 3: Go to Accessibility section as shown in Photo 3.

Step 4: From the given descriptions, tap a description to change it to:

  • True True
  • False False
  • Unsure Unsure

And tap on the Submit as shown in Photo 4.

I have edited Accessibility attributes for of Gola Sizzlers as depicted in this photo as False for first four accessibility descriptions and True for the last description on accessibility.

Once the Submit is tapped, you get a Thank you message as shown in Photo 5.

It is so simple to edit Accessibility attribute for a place on Google Maps. It does not take much of time but its impact is huge and touches the billion hearts. :hearts:

This is an excellent how-to post on a very important feature of Google Maps. The steps are detailed and yet easy to understand. In the coming weeks, accessibility features would gain much more importance and people need to be aware of this feature on Google Maps.

Right now, this feature is restricted to a few categories in India like restaurant and markets etc, but hopefully Google expands it to other features as well very soon.

Thank you for sharing yet another amazing post @Kumaarsantosh
