Did You Notice the Updated Character Limit for Signature on Connect?

Hello Fellow Local Guides,

I noticed a recent update on Connect where the character limit for profile signatures has been reduced from 1000 to 500.

Because of this change, many existing signatures may have been automatically shortened or truncated to fit within the new limit. It would be good to review your signature and make sure it still appears as intended.

With this change, it’s important to be more concise while adding details, links, or personal notes. Our signature is a quick identity marker across posts and responses, so focusing on what truly matters is key:

  • Prioritize what represents us best
  • Keep only the most relevant links or information
  • Use short phrases or keywords
  • Focus on clarity over quantity

Have you updated your signature to fit the new limit? What changes helped you keep it concise yet meaningful?

Feel free to share your thoughts, let’s learn from each other.

Keep building a well-informed community stronger :flexed_biceps: together.

Stay Happy, Stay Healthy!

JAI HO!!!

Thank you for sharing this useful information :folded_hands:

It does not accept more than 10,000 words when using the GIF feature.(if you goes with HTML code, if you goes only with image then signature is accepted).& yes it’s only accept basic level of code.

It’s my personal experience in recent time.
@Kumaarsantosh

This is excellent @Kumaarsantosh. Thanks for sharing. It will improve the look of posts on the page. Sometimes we see short posts with very long signatures, and this has a disproportionate appearance.

Thank you for sharing this update, dear friend @Kumaarsantosh. I was not aware of this.

Yeah, a few days ago I edited my signature, and the icon I generated turned into plain text—it turns out the character limit for the text in the signature had changed. In the end, I had to get creative and find a way to make the information I included in my signature more compact.

Yes, I noticed it a few days ago while I was updating my signature. @Kumaarsantosh

Due to limitations, I’ve removed other details from my signature.

Thanks for this post for community.

Nice catch and thanks for the update @Kumaarsantosh :+1:

Although I did not count the number of characters, a long time back, I tried adding a URL in my signature, but it did not allow. Ultimately, I had to create a shorter version using TinyURL.

Yes I also noticed.. thanks for sharing @Kumaarsantosh ji .

That’s a fantastic update to keep the signature concise and meaningful. Thanks for sharing, coach @Kumaarsantosh

@Kumaarsantosh I noticed!!! I was trying to add two words to my signature, but instead of adding them, my sig was cut… In couldn’t understand why until 3 tries later that I noticed the character count.

That was a bit sad for me, because I had to remove my quote, my teams and my Brick-on-the-wall for my signature to fit

Thank you @SharmaK.

Thank you, @shaileno, for sharing your thoughts and experience. It’s quite interesting to know that using the GIF feature with HTML code can allow up to 10,000 words; definitely worth exploring for anyone keen to try it.

I have not come across this myself yet, but it’s certainly something to look into.

I truly value your thoughts, @tony_b; thank you for sharing them here.

Thank you, dear friend @PrasadVR; I am glad it was meaningful to share with the community.

Great tip, @elyudith. Thank you for sharing.

A welcome step to better accommodate signatures. Thank you, @NareshDarji, for sharing this here.

when encountered this issue: when I took the ‘Namaste India’ graphic created by Ajit Dada, converted it into a smaller GIF file, and attempted to link it with my ‘City Explore’ and ‘WOF’ URLs, this specific problem arose. beyound 10,000 word. @Kumaarsantosh

That’s a great way to make the most of the limited characters in the signature. Thank you, @TusharSuradkar, for sharing this helpful tip with the community.
