Feature Update: New Look Of 'Suggest an edit'

The look of the ‘Suggest an edit’ feature for a given POI is changed. This is observed on Android but not available as yet for desktop users. The new look is more intutive and easy to edit.

Photo 1 has the existing look of ‘Suggest an edit’ feature and Photo 2 has the new look of ‘Suggest an edit’ feature. Now we can select the change directly in one click for Name, Category, Location, Hours etc. Close or remove option is now replaced with ‘Place is closed or not here’ followed by the Operating status.

Update as on 10-April-2024 : Official announcement by Google Administrator An easier “Suggest an edit” flow in Google Maps.

JAI HO!!!

Interesting, @Kumaarsantosh

Even when visiting https://maps.app.goo.gl/ppq5TQwCPcFBCeaT9 using my Android phone only the old edit layout is shown.

Cheers

@Kumaarsantosh

It seems your Maps version is several numbers forward because you’re experiencing changes that we can’t still see

Thanks for sharing @Kumaarsantosh I’m also not yet seeing this on Android, but we’rte experienced this numerous times: not everyone get’s a feature rolled out simulateously. Or perhaps this is just a test to see what the effect is on users who have this on their system.

On my Android mobile this appears for any POI, I select @MortenCopenhagen .

Possibly this will roll out soon for the wider user base.

Good one @Amiran . I love your comment  .

Perhaps Google Map is showing more kindenss. :grinning: to keep me busy.

That’s true @JanVanHaver . Rollout could happen batchwise or phasewise after fixing some initial bugs that may appear in piloting the change.

@Kumaarsantosh Thanks for the update. You got the new feature first—maybe you’re the top user of the existing ‘Suggest an edit’ feature.

Not Seeing it yet in Canada either @Kumaarsantosh

Thank you @PrasadVR . Google does it religiously and subsequently such update may roll out for wider user base.

Possibly in due course of time this will roll out for Canada as well @TerryPG .

I am liking this feature because of the ease of use with reduced number of clicks.
