Did You Know? Connect limits number of recipients in a private message

Hello Fellow Local Guides,

In many situations on Connect, we use Private Messages (PMs) to communicate with a smaller group of Local Guides about specific subjects, initiatives, or coordination activities. This approach helps keep Connect organized and ensures that specific discussions remain focused rather than becoming posts meant for a wider audience. At the same time, it allows conversations to remain within the Connect platform itself, maintaining a sense of official communication rather than shifting discussions to external social media channels. In many ways, it also helps us stay connected with each other directly through Connect.

If you have ever wondered how Private Messages work or what they are meant for, there is a very helpful explanation shared by @MortenCopenhagen titled “Private messages explained,” which provides a clear overview of this feature and how to use it effectively.

Recently, while using Private Messages, I noticed something interesting; there appears to be a limit to the number of recipients that can be added to a single message. From my observation, this limit seems to be around 30 recipients. Once that number is reached, a notification window appears indicating that no additional participants can be added to the message thread.

Understanding such small but important features helps us use Connect more effectively and ensures smoother communication within our community.

Please feel free to share your insights and experiences in the comments below: let’s discuss and learn together.

Keep building a well-informed community stronger :flexed_biceps: together.

Stay Happy, Stay Healthy!

Hi @Kumaarsantosh

Thanks for the mention and link to my tutorial.

The software running Connect also allows private groups. It has not been used yet, but that might be a solution in the future should you be bothered by the max limit for participants in PM.

Hi @MortenCopenhagen,

Thank you for sharing your insight about private groups on Connect. Regarding the maximum participant limit, it’s rarely a concern, as it’s uncommon to need more than 30 participants in a private message. (IMHO)

I wasn’t aware of this limit of sending PM to the LGs. Thanks for sharing, coach @Kumaarsantosh

Thank you, @Ssiddharth2000, for your acknowledgment. The purpose of this post aligns exactly with what you mentioned.

That’s really a great information

Thank you very much, dear @Kumaarsantosh
As you mentioned, above 30 recipients will be a rare need.
In the past, we were permitted only to send 5 personal message per LG per day
I’m not aware of the current limit.
Regards with gratitude
