Pride Month is here & with the coming of celebration and visibility, we as Local Guides have an unique opportunity to spotlight and support our local LGBTQ+ Friendly Businesses which supports and welcomes LGBTQ+ community. Let’s make Google Maps more inclusive for everyone in this Pride Month & Pride with Local Guides.

How to support your local LGBTQ+ :rainbow_flag: Friendly Businesses on Google Maps? :sparkles:

  1. Identify :magnifying_glass_tilted_left: & Discover inclusive Businesses :

  2. Add photos :framed_picture: of LGBTQ+ Friendly Businesses - Storefront, interior, gender neutral bathroom and accessibility photo are welcomed to upload on Google Maps of such inclusive businesses.

  3. Adding Reviews :memo:: you can include keyword like “LGBTQ+ friendly” with either emoji icon like :white_check_mark: or :cross_mark:, according to the businesses or words of your choice.

  4. Share information on how to enable LGBTQ+ :rainbow_flag: Friendly & Gender Neutral bathroom :restroom::water_closet: features on Google Maps to local Businesses that welcomes customers inclusively.

  5. Know how to edit place’s services and features in Google Maps.

  6. Know How to add LGBTQ+ :rainbow_flag: Friendly Attributes & Gender Neutral bathroom :restroom: feature for a place on Google Maps - @Kumaarsantosh

How to participate in the Challenge? :thinking:

  1. Showcase Local LGBTQ+ :rainbow_flag: friendly businesses & tell how you help their Businesses on Google Maps.

  2. Collaborate with other Challenges : whether Challenge is to support local Women Owned Businesses or Tea shops or Juice bars or flower shops during festival months, you can collaborate with the above challenges to make the community know they are LGBTQ+ Friendly. Also refer here to see Challenges & Initiatives by other Local Guides that supports small businesses.

  3. Showcase unique LGBTQ+ street art or poster or sign in front of any local businesses - if photos are taken, make sure the photo contains sign/art work with store front view or interior or accessibility information of the Business (so that it is possible to upload and publish in Google Maps & Connect with one goal, support local businesses).

  4. Conduct virtual meetups :laptop: to discuss on how to support local LGBTQ+ friendly businesses. You can also conduct in-person :busts_in_silhouette: or hybrid meetups as a photo walk to discover & support local LGBTQ+ friendly businesses.

Criteria of participating! :sparkles:

  1. Your Google Maps Review link to local Business should be added to your post with keywords “LGBTQ+ friendly :white_check_mark:” or “this Cafe/Restaurant/community centre is LGBTQ+ friendly” in the review.

  2. There’s no criteria for photos that should upload to Google Maps/Connect but challenge welcomes you to upload Store front/interior/menu/gender neutral bathroom photo to Google Maps/Connect.

  3. Optional - you can also share how you came to know the business you visited is LGBTQ+ friendly (even if they enabled the feature or not).

Duration of the Challenge. :spiral_calendar:

Challenge will be active for 2 months but anyday is inclusive to support such businesses.

Why 2 months?

Disability Pride Month is taking place in July and to contribute & support for Accessible LGBTQ+ Friendly Businesses :rainbow_flag::wheelchair_symbol::person_with_white_cane::speaker_medium_volume:, challenge will be active for June & July.
