Support Women Owned Businesses & Support LGBTQ+ 🏳️‍🌈 Friendly Businesses - Daksha

Hy Local Guides,

As part of Let’s Empower Women Owned Businesses on Google Maps by @Globe_trotter_Ish and Support Local LGBTQ+ :rainbow_flag: Friendly Businesses - Challenge : #PRIDE, I am glad to introduce a Women Owned LGBTQ+ Friendly Businesses in my hometown, Trivandrum.

I discovered this unique business when finding a ice cream :ice_cream: in the afternoon Heat. This is also an entry for @MathanVibranarayan’s Beat the Heat Challenge.

Let’s meet Daksha Raveendranath!

Daksha Raveendranath, a stage show host and has been doing many celebrity interviews and TV shows. This Cafe, Frost & Toast is like a team project which was started with my Husband,C.S Prem Krishna.

So Frost & Toast is Kid Friendly :boy:, Age Friendly :older_person: and LGBTQ+ :rainbow_flag: Friendly where people from any culture, age or spectrum are welcome and can come to enjoy the food and spend their time with each other. Main theme of the cafe is centered around the Ice Cream based Cafe.

A cafe that is centred around ice cream :shaved_ice: but like all cafes, they have their own savouries and coffee and few beverages as well. Best ones that are mostly focused on are the French Toast, Pancakes and Hot Chocolates.

Let’s hear what she have to say:

  1. Can you tell us what inspired you to start a cafe?

Answer : Basically I am an avid FRIENDS fan as well as my husband. We love that cafe culture which we would connect, share and call a second home. We already have regular customers who come at least 3 days in a week and gives our cafe feel like a second home for our customers and we are glad for providing it.

  1. How do you get interested in the food and beverage industry & what motivates you to open your own business?

Answer : I am a foodie and love to explore various dishes and food culture. Me and my husband during our trip made sure to visit local cafes and restaurants to learn about food and how it works. Through various experiences and classes and experiments, we finally decided to open a cafe which is a kind of community space for people to gather up for food and good time to spend together.

  1. How do you ensure your cafe is welcoming and inclusive to all customers?

Answer : We train our staff to be as friendly as possible to give customers the best service possible. We recently got the problem of having delays but work it out for fast delivery. We are also LGBTQ + :rainbow_flag: friendly and we welcome all people/individuals from any spectrum or age to our cafe.

  1. As a pet friendly cafe , what pet friendly features do your cafe provide such as outdoor seating?

Answer : We are a Pet Friendly :dog_face:cafe. Unfortunately there are very few cafes which are pet friendly in Trivandrum/Kochi or even in Kerala. Pets are like our family members and when I wanted to have a cafe, I looked forward to keeping a section for customers who bring their pets.

  1. How do you ensure your cafe is navigable and customer friendly for wheelchair users :wheelchair_symbol:?

Answer : We have created a ramp for the entry that any people who use wheelchairs :wheelchair_symbol: or are specially abled can come to our cafe.

  1. How do you use Google maps to promote your cafe & how do you think Google Maps is helping women owned businesses such as yours?

Answer : Google Maps really helps us to have Visibility. More than a business, Google Maps helps customers to navigate our cafe and spend their time. I personally want to thank Google Maps for having a feature “Women Owned Businesses” to help local Women owners cherish our community.

  1. What advice would you give to other women entrepreneurs looking to start their own businesses?

Answer : Have a clear picture, have a clear vision for your business, have a layout plan and always make money work for you rather than work for the money. Always remember to support your local businesses, as one grows we together grows.

Thank your Daksha for your valuable interview and insights on how your business runs.
