Hy Local Guides, :woman_getting_haircut::rainbow_flag:

As part of @Globe_trotter_Ish’s Let’s Empower Women Owned Businesses on Google Maps and Support Local LGBTQ+ :rainbow_flag: Friendly Businesses - Challenge : #PRIDE, I am glad to introduce a Woman Owned LGBTQ+ friendly Business on this Transgender Visibility Day.

Let’s Meet Renju & Kripa!

Renju & Kripa owns Renz Hair & Beauty Salon where Kripa started as the owner of the Shop. They are from LGBTQ+ :rainbow_flag: community where Renju is known to be one of best hairstylist Transman in Kerala. They have started the shop in 2024 where they provide Beauty and Hair features for Ladies and to those from the spectrum.

Let’s hear what they have in mind to say:

  1. What inspired you to start a hair salon?

Answer : As Kripa and I have 20 years of experience in the Beauty and Hair field, we thought it would be good for the community and for us to start our own physical shop to give our features to customers. I have seen LGBTQ+ members (especially transgender community) starting their own business and they are my inspiration to start our own business.

  1. As a woman owned, how does your salon reflect success and Inclusiveness?

Answer : Our business reflects success as Kripa is a well known Bridal makeup artist and most of the clients we get are from those. For Inclusiveness, we provide our time and feature to Ladies and to those from the spectrum. We are also opening for the kid’s and men’s sections in the future too.

  1. How do you think Google Maps helps customers to discover women owned and LGBTQ+ friendly hair salons such as yours?

Answer : Google Maps helps our business in getting Visibility and Navigation for the customers to reach us. As we enabled LGBTQ+ friendly features, we started to get customers from the LGBTQ+ community which is the main reason we started this.

  1. As a LGBTQ+ :rainbow_flag: friendly, how do you welcome customers inclusively?

Answer : We welcome all members from any Spectrum. We regularly get customers from the LGBTQ+ community and we inclusively give them the best of our features and care.

Thank you Renju and Kripa for opening a salon for the Community and giving me insights on your business.

Excellent post and interview, dear @Rahul001

From your various posts, it is evident that the transgenders and LGBTQ people are hard-working self-employed small business owners.

Comparatively, I have always seen transgenders asking for free money in trains and at traffic signals. They might offer an occasional blessing, but that was all they usully offer in return for money.

I am loving your interview series :+1:

You have taken up a commendable work @Rahul001. The entire perspective of the community and its people is getting changed, a new dimension from what generally shown in the movies are blurring. Keep up the good work, spread the word beyond LG Connect. :clap:t2::clap:t2::clap:t2:

Mostly I don’t look for free time to educate and support, but as a local guide : it’s always time effective, either in a meet-up or inspiring other local guides.
