In Google maps, I am proud to be one of the top local guide contributors from Nepal according to the points and level. I would like to share my experience as a local guide and my relation with local guides connect.
ABOUT ME
My name is Bhupal Das shrestha I am a local guide level 9.Living in southern parts of Nepal, Very close to Indian Boarder (just 42 Kilometer ),Chandranigahpur, Rautahat , Nepal.I started my career as an IT professional.Still, I am working in the field of computer hardware and software .My main hobby is photography with smart phone and DSLR. Write now , I am one of the executive(central) member of CAN Federation . I am also one of the leading member of province no. 2 within CAN, Federation
Computer Association of Nepal (CAN, Federation) was established in December 1992 as an autonomous, non political, non partisan, non-profitable and service oriented organization. The CAN has been formed with the involvement of professionals, specialists, manufacturers, institutions and the related organization of Computer and Information Technology within the whole country.
CAN Federation is the umbrella organization with membership base ranging from ICT Institutions, Associations to Individuals working in this sector. It has 54 districts branches and more than 5000 members across the country.
I am also a Yoga teacher and president of Patanjali yog Samiti, Chandrapur branch . Every morning, I practice Yoga and as well guide those people who want to learn it.
I AM AS A LOCAL GUIDE
In 2013, I started to contribute in Google map(Google Map Maker). In the same year I founded “Rautahat Google Local Guides” community along with my few friends . Since that , I am regularly posting in my community . Fortunately I've been part of many virtual communities within the period of five years. I just like to say for me being a local guide not just a hobby. it’s a passion and responsibility toward whole community. I am passionate about helping people solve their problems. Local guides are global community of explorers who seek out and celebrate local experiences.
It's wonderful that we, as Local Guides from every corner of the globe, are actively reviewing, editing and uploading photos on Google Maps. Within the Google map I want to share my ,interest local favorites, hidden gems and put small businesses on maps which will give them much needed exposure to survive . It actually increases the business of people. I’m doing this because (supposedly) I enjoy this and get benefits from the time I use and other people will benefit because they receive information about a place in advance so they can decide whether to go/use this place or not. As a local guides , I always try to add information to Maps and edit the information which is already present and is wrong. Its my responsible to report a bug and suggest an improvement directly to the developers and make some changes to Maps.

RELATION WITH LOCAL GUIDES CONNECT PROGRAM
This is the small parts of our contribution as a local guides. it’s a community of explorers that contributes not only on small places but around the world.
That’s why, I proud to be a local guides and always ready to help our community . Experiences like these motivate me to continue being a local guide and I just love to meet like minded local guides on connect. It's the community forum for Local Guides around the world. Where we can ask questions, learn about the program, share our achievement, discuss in any topics and make friends — whether they’re in the same city or wherever they live in the world..
When the Local Guides connect program launched in January 15, 2015. My journey begun as an active connect member, Since then, I regularly post within my community .I hosted my first Meet-up "Let's go NUNTHAR to celebrate MEET-UP DAY 2016" . In 18th June 2016,on the day of the Google local guides Meet-up Day. In 23 Oct 2017,We have changed the name of our community ”Rautahat Google Local Guides” to “Mid Nepal Local Guides”. Now we have 273 members in our Community in Google Plus .

All my Meet-ups were very incredible and I learned great deal from them. I have several peoples and associates who played an important role in helping me to achieve my goal and increase my knowledge base. I will like to thanks all friends from Nepal local guides (Along with other three communities). I am very grateful to all of the members of Mid Nepal Local Guides and non-members of our community, those who helped us in our Meet-up by contributing in different segment. We exchanged ideas with each other, shared knowledge and planned for future program. We had an amazing time together, hiked a lot, took plenty of photos within the area of our Meet-up and contributed to pinpoint locations in map. All our Meet-ups were memorable and grand Success. I tried to attend every meet-up in my area as well as any parts of the country (If I could manage ) because I had best of the times with my friends there and each of them was worth it .
I find local guides connect to be one of the best platforms to exchange ideas with other local guides in discussions. It is also the place to get information about new features and about upcoming projects. I made good friends and we even have group Hangouts calls, where we discuss and plan future events.
As an active participate and member in Google Local Guides Connect and as per my personal experience I can say that, the LG Team is constantly working on improving the Local Guides program with the help of local guides around the world.
