Hy Local Guides,
From September 15th to 21st, Inclusion Week is celebrated to promote inclusivity among the community and the society. What is Inclusion mean to you as a Local Guide? Inclusion is to create a safe and respectful environment where people of all backgrounds, religion, age, ability and identities have equal opportunity to participate and belong.
Inclusion is an umbrella term which contains every feature on Google Maps which helps in for a local guide in one term. It contains from Accessibility, LGBTQ+
Friendliness, Women Friendliness, Kid Friendliness, ambience & atmosphere, etc..
As a local guide, we do share inclusive and accurate information to Google Maps daily. We help our community be more accessible & deserving for everyone from celebrating women week & Pride Month with Local Guides to Identifying inclusive signs & gender neutral bathrooms.
Here’s some way we can celebrate every week as an Inclusive Week!
- Sharing your favourite inclusive space : It can be either a cafe
, coffee shop
or just a reading space
; you can share your story or experience here on Connect about their inclusive features they provide that you see.
- Providing Inclusive Contributions : When you visit any inclusive cafe or a place, pay attention to their inclusive features. Provide and mention about wheelchair, visual, auditory and cognitive accessibility
, gender neutral bathrooms, Kid Friendliness
, LGBTQ+
Friendliness, Age Friendly, how quiet it is, etc.. in the review or as any media.
- Hosting Meetups - You can also host meetups supporting local inclusive businesses around you where you can add new businesses or help by adding photos
, videos
and reviews
on an existing one on Google Maps.
Let’s make our valuable contributions to make the world around us and Google Maps an inclusive space and platform. Share your stories about visited an inclusive place near you or during your travels.
