Celebrate Agender Pride Day with Me πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ ⭐

Hy Local Guides, :green_heart::white_heart::grey_heart::black_heart:

Today May 19th, is a very special day on the calendar: Agender Pride Day 🌈. This day is dedicated to recognizing, celebrating & raising visibility for individuals who identify as agender, those who feel they exist outside the gender binary, have an amorphous gender identity or identifying as having no gender at all.

Our journey of learning and sharing on Connect continues to grow. From celebrating Lesbian Day :rainbow: to honoring Transgender Day of Visibility :transgender_flag:, our community has always stepped up to foster an environment where everyone feels seen, valued & welcome.

Decoding the β€œA” in LGBTQIA+ :rainbow_flag:

The β€œA” in LGBTQIA+ :rainbow_flag: stands for a spectrum of identities that includes Agender, Asexual & Aromantic. While these represent distinct aspects of identity, spanning gender, sexuality & romance - they all share a powerful common goal: moving beyond conventional expectations to showcase the incredible diversity of human identity.

Mapping for True Inclusion :world_map:

As Local Guides, our primary superpower is making the world easier to navigate for everyone. True accessibility isn’t just about physical ramps and wide doorways, it’s also about building a safe, dignified space for everyone in the community.

When you are out mapping your local neighborhoods, you can make a massive difference by documenting inclusive spaces on Google Maps. Whether you are highlighting welcoming inclusive coffee shops :hot_beverage: or contributing helpful reviews for vital LGBTQIA+ :rainbow_flag: community spaces, your contributions matter. Keep an eye out for businesses that go the extra mile by providing gender-neutral restrooms :restroom: & don’t forget to mention them in your high-quality reviews :writing_hand:t2: with helpful photos :selfie:t2: too. It’s a simple piece of information that offers immense comfort and reassurance to non-binary & agender individuals looking for safe spaces to visit.

To put our mapping skills into practice and kick off the upcoming celebrations early, Join with @Manishhh & me on May 31st for the Mapping with Pride - Kick-off for Pride Month Meetup, where we will discuss best practices for mapping inclusive attributes, share tips on writing impactful reviews & get ready for an amazing Pride Month ahead.

I would love to hear from all of you in the comments below:

  • Have you noticed any local businesses in your city having their facilities to be more gender-neutral and inclusive?

  • What are some of the ways you ensure your Google Maps reviews contribute to a welcoming environment for everyone?

Every small detail we add to the map helps build a world where everyone belongs. Let’s keep building a more inclusive map together, one edit at a time.

Hi @Rahul001 thanks for sharing your concern and information about Agender. In recent months I have been traveling. Wherever I visited I didn’t find any gender neutral toilets or I may have not noticed. In a few places wheelchair Accessible toilets are gender neutral. Hopefully this situation will change since the call for such toilets are increasing. I remember during my young age there used to be common toilets or no toilets. That scenario changed because women started traveling more. Change is inevitable.

Understand what you are trying to explain…it is very clear…
However, too many alphabets and a bit confusing to me…
Anyways, Best wishes for the Agender Day…
