Celebrate Aromantic Spectrum Awareness Week With Me 🏳️‍🌈

Hy Local Guides, :rainbow_flag:

As Valentine’s week ended on February 14th, another celebration day is coming up. I personally thank everyone who supported Loves in the Air and commented on that with love.

This week starts the days of celebrating LGBTQ+ days this year. From February 16th to 22nd, the week is viewed and celebrated as Aromantic Spectrum Awareness Week (ASAW).

Let’s then dive into what Aromantic or Aromantism is :

Aromantic are those from the spectrum who don’t show or feel romantic attractions. It doesn’t mean they won’t have/show any closer bonds or affections towards people, they do. Aromantic persons may still have sexual orientation and gender identity but it may not be the requirements to identify as a Aromantic.

Please note : There is a more complicated answer for the definition but simplified to make the community understand better.

This week was originally started in November, 2014 but then changed to February, after the valentine’s week to make it inclusive for every person from the spectrum to celebrate the day.

How Google Maps helps.

Recent addition of ‘Solo Dining’ editing feature in Business profile helps aromantic persons who need to celebrate valentine’s day or any other day.

Solo-dining can also help in search for Aromantic friendly cafes/restaurants.

How we as Local Guides can help in this week.

Kindly include ‘Solo dining’ word/sentences of Cafes/Restaurants you visited in your review if they provide.

Also, when you go to ‘About’ section of the business profile in Google Maps and click on ‘Edit Features’, you can see ‘Solo Dining’ option in the Popular section as shown in the above screenshot. You can click :white_check_mark: or :x: if they business provides it nor not.

Share any Solo-dining Cafes/Restaurants in your region/area to promote aromatic friendly businesses.

Thanks for spreading awareness on this less-known topic @Rahul001

It was a great idea to move from November to align with the week of Valentine’s—a nice gesture for inclusivity.

I find it similar to the Paralympics held immediately following the Olympic games to show inclusiveness.

I will look out for solo-dining cafes from here on. Are these places with single-person-table or something similar?

Thank you @TusharSuradkar for your valuable comment and words!

It was also with Singles Appreciation day on February 15th. What you said it correct.

Yes Tushar, I seen a lot of cafes providing single tables for solo dinings. More over, some cafes have separate closed sections for solo dining like this Cafe Brewings.

Yes, dear Rahul…as our @TusharSuradkar mentioned, this topic is pretty new to me too - thanks for these pieces of information.
I have seen only one table with two chairs combination - is there single chair option?
Well, this LGBTQ+ related topic is interesting.
All the best…

Thank you @TravellerG for your valuable comment.

Nowadays most cafes offers it actually. That’s how solo dining feature in Google maps comes in help. As it is a new feature, Buisnesses is getting to know it and by some time, phrase “solo dining near me” can be used!

Also now when you search ‘solo dining’, in Google maps search bar, result will taken from reviews of local guide who put the keyboard as solo date or solo dining.
