Update, 6/13/18: All 151 selected applicants have been notified about their status and all remaining Local Guides will hear about their status by June 20th.

Over the coming days everyone who applied for this year’s Local Guides event, Connect Live 2018, will receive an email about whether or not they have been selected to attend. I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for submitting their applications and let you know how much fun the team had in reviewing the thousands (yes, THOUSANDS) of applications.

We have selected 151 Local Guides to represent the global community at Connect Live 2018. That’s right: you heard it here first that we selected an extra Local Guide to share information back with the community!

Every person selected was carefully reviewed by the team and chosen for a very special reason. While some may not share their status just yet, we ask you to be patient as they work through their excitement — and the details.

Overall, it was inspiring to see how committed many of you are to the Local Guides community on top of making fantastic contributions to Google Maps: helping your local community by adding new places, creating lists to help others exploring your area, and hosting meet-ups to connect locally, just to name a few. It was fun learning about your specific passions, too. Whether you were one of the vegan foodies, accessibility champions, or rappers (yes, there were rappers!), you help to keep Connect a warm and welcoming place for Local Guides no matter where in the world you may call home.

I’m proud to be a Local Guide and I look forward to seeing our global community grow over the coming weeks, months, and years, especially here on Connect.

First we need to understand the whole process, how it started and summarized!

Let's start:

1) All of us we received an email invitation to join this year Connect Live with subject "You could join this years mega event Connect Live 2018" ( with a link to apply)

2) Link  redirected us to apply for the event with lots of instructions, terms, criteria and so many things out of which most highlighted one was " Only 150 applications will be selected out of all applications received followed by the selection process".

3) Once you have submitted your application along with:

a) Your Introduction link on Connect                                                                                         

b) your 1 minute video link of you tube or drive                                                                                         

c) Tweeter and Instagram account links if you are having it.                                                                                         

d) there were few questions we suppose to answer

after fulfilling all above mentioned you need to submit your application.

4) Once submitted there in there you receive a massage saying "Thank you for 'completing' your application to join Connect Live 2018, You will receive email within 10 days about confirming that your application is received".

5) If your application submitted successfully as per the criteria then within 10 days you receive an email saying "Thank you for Applying Connect Live 2018" (This email should arrive to your inbox by 10 or 11th May 2018) if not then your application is not submitted nor received.

Post this:

On 20th June 2018, we all received confirmation email whether we are selected or not.

All the Selected Candidate have been informed on 13th of June 2018.

My question to you was due to there are too many senior GLGs worldwide, who are having more than 1,50,000 points and are contesting since 2 years as a GLG level 10, even though they are not qualified for this event and you, as well as like freshers, got selected. It's really an unbelievable achievement for you. I am a good learner, i was also at level 5, when google invited me to apply for this summit, right now at Level 8 and very close to Level 9.

My main focus is to learn and do work in right way, which should be universal, ideal and with perfection. Your selection indicates that points are not the only measure, to be a right local guide.

Anyway many many thanks once again for sharing your contribution and expecting for the time to time updates from your end. Will be in touch for more.

Hey! I do not really have any idea of the "specific" selection criteria, but I think I fulfilled the requirements of the call. I am very grateful to the Google team for giving me a place for the summit and I am going to take it 100%.
The goal of contributing has never been "the trip to SF", my goal has always been to help others in the most "basic" levels of common life, as happened in the earthquake that hit my city last year. The platform was key to helping us as a community (as a society, as citizens) in a time of crisis and I do not forget it, it is not the trip, it is to give meaning to the contributions, to make notice to others that it is not always about "the beautiful places", it is about real life, the platform at the service of millions.

Let's make community, maps connect us!!

Narrowing applications from thousands to 151 was a very difficult choice. We encourage you to keep contributing to Google Maps and be active in the Local Guides program! It's great how far you've come in a short time.

Ya it was very tough to select 150 right GLGs from thousands.. Congrats for successfully completing this task and best wishes for managing the forthcoming summit..

I am 100 percent agreed with the selection of your team. If you will look back to the conversation made by me earlier, from the month of may, on this platform, i had withdrawn myself from this competition. That was due to i know my contributions & respecting contributions of senior GLGs.

Decided to be a grateful member of Team Google Map, by working hard & without any expectations.....

And the Journey Going On.....

I have the following questions which is to be clarified. 

1. When it will be declared the List of 150 selected Local Guides names with country to join the Connect Live 2018  If you know the link please do the needful so that  all local guides can make use of the link to find out easily the results of selection by Google. 

Whether one is selected or not. There is absolutely no need of any discussion if the list of 150 applicants are selected. If Google wants everything is confidential regarding it. It is meaningless to discuss with out having list of selected 150 applicants. 

Please do not give such statements with out having the list of 150 selected local guide. It is better suggested wait still scrutiny process is going on. Wait for reply  email from Google regarding Connect Live 2018. 

If it is Connect live 2018 why didn't they declared the results regarding selection .Explain do you have any link or solution about 150 selected local Guides for this year great event Connect Live 2018. When there is no transparency till date .hope Google should declare the results of selected local guides.

Hope you understand the privacy policy those who applied will receive email reply from Connect Live 2018 to join in this year's great event at San Francisco , California. Any global event both local guides and guests are invited to attend the same .

I received invitation email and submitted as per the invitation and successfully submitted the same .Only thing I would like to know are you having List of 150 selected Local Guides than publish it and be transparent in disclosing the List of selected local guides if not please don't write such comments which may hurt the feelings of local guides .

Secondly if you know the link then please do needful than local guides can find their solutions. There is lot of difference invitation received email from Google and  applied as local guide as per the link. 

Since I applied as per invitation email waiting for reply from Google .

Hope you should be cautious in your own opinion which will lead local guides in wrong direction. Simple question is 

Do you have declaration of list of 150 selected local guides to join in Connect Live 2018  or Solution link to help in this regard. 

What is your problem if Google invites as per privacy policy. 

Please don't confuse local guides who knows in October how many will be attending in Connect Live 2018 .

This is for your information I did not request but I I received invitation from Google .

First of all I would be happy to know, did you got answer from my previous reply? about what you are looking for long time ?

Second,  as per my knowledge and understanding  you were waiting for "Reply email from Google" and I tried to give you a clear and nice snap about the process what I understand till now, please correct me if I am wrong.  

Third,  you are asking for list of selected attendees? this is bit challenging for me to answer.

But still to find an answer (which I already know, as I read all the threads, replies and posts carefully) to your query, I have gone through almost 43 pages back on the current thread from the current page where we are discussing the subject, and read it again all the replies and here I found some of the replies from Google Moderators, Connect Moderators and Googlers as well. 

Very first I strongly recommend you to check and read again in detail about the event here

Now let's have look on the replies from google:

About your latest question today of having a list of selected LG's, I just want to let you know that "it is not allowed to share the names of individuals for privacy reason.

My recommendation to go through all the pages starting from page 1 to 283 till now of this thread, you will figure out the Selected Attendees of this year for Connect Live, by themselves they have declared about their selection, you can count, as I got to know after reading all replies from this thread that 10 Eligible LG's from India got selected and travelling for the event in October. 🙂

@Rcostaval During the application process, no single factor was considered to be the most important. The Google Maps contributions of every applicant were scrutinized for quality contributions. Some applicants are stronger photographers than they are reviewers, some excel at publishing lists, some prefer to check the facts, some love to make edits, some have a knack for adding places, some regularly rate places, some plan meet-ups, and some are very active here on Connect.

There are many ways Local Guides can contribute to Google Maps and no single contribution type is more important than another. This year’s attendees have different strengths which will lead to a diverse and exciting Connect Live 2018.

This is not the platform for blaming some ones. See friends each and every person is Right from his/her own angle of point of view. What is the matter.? 

If there are some conflict point of view, Google has deputed Moderators to explain (if it is needed) question or query from Genuine GLG. Why we are so emotional up to the extent, so that someone get hurt by your words.?

Friends we are here to learn the quality behavior, act and everything which makes us Gentle.

I think we forgot our first aim to help the people of the world. To be qualified for summit, to be an administrator, to be a moderator are not the destinations. They all comes on the midway of our continued journey..

But, for tracking on that correct path, we have to be honest with our Goal. That is Help..Help..&..Only..Help to the Global world, without any expectations or selfishness.. If we are on this track, the above mentioned stations will come on way.. But, be awarded that they are just the stations, not the destination..

For reaching up to that marc, we should develop some quality of personality like..Be Calm, Be Loveable, Be Popular, Be a Leader, Be an Acceptable to most of our followers & last but not least...

To be a Human.

If we are having these quality in ourselves, then only we can just start our journey....

Frankly, I'm really impressed and thankful that Google is doing this. I received the email to apply when I was at level 5, and I was ecstatic. I didn't know about any summit or GLC before the email. This ignorance has helped me to contribute happily with only one purpose: to share information that I know with others. I only joined this forum recently so I know my chances were slim as Google's looking at contribution through the entire year. So I just continue to contribute and share with my initial purpose. 

No one owes anyone a trip to anywhere. It is wonderful for Google provide a platform for us to share, and even more awesome that Google is paying for a team of LGs to fly to SF for LGC Live! Treat it as a bonus, not an expectation. Be thankful if you are selected, but not resentful when not. Google doesn't owe any of us a trip, or any explanations.

Just keep on contributing and sharing, with the first purpose you had when you started. Don't forget that you just want to share, that's why you are here. Be grateful that Google provides us with a free platform to share and to know one another here. None of this excitement among all of us here would ever happen if Google didn't.

I respect Google privacy policy as Local Guide Level 7 and I submitted my application as per invitation email from Google on 27th April 2018 and i did not receive the reply email till date .

Those who submitted the applications are supposed to get reply email. If you are the compitant authority than reply to the point. It will be published in Local guides Community at global level . As the news of connect live 2018 I published at Google Local Guides World, Google Local Guides India, Google Local Guides West Bengal and Google local Guides Bangladesh so that local guides can submit their application to join in Connect Live 2018. I render selfless service at Google and active local Guide. I received mails from Local Guides Connect daily. 

Please don't underestimate ladies. 

I was the host of Visakhapatnam City of Destiny : India -ref. [RECAP] World Wide Photo Walk Meet Up -Album  contributed video and 28 photos and PHOTOS .GOOGLE. 

I respect privacy policy of Google .and congratulations to all selected 150 local Guides. 

Hope transparacy in results declaration regarding selection . Be honest in disclosing 150 Local Guides duely signed by Google authority. 

Just hurting the feelings of Local Guides how far it is JUSTIFIABLE.

I received the mail regarding selection of applications from Google moderator that final list is under scrutiny process is going on. But as per privacy policy Google wouldn't be declared announcement of  the list of 150 selected attendees . So everything is confidential there is no point in further discussion regarding Connect live 2018 till date just a list of selected 150 selected local guides or a link for solutions regarding transparency List of selecting 150 attendees. 

Congratulations to Google for creating a platform for local guides on Connect live 2018. 

As per privacy policy of Google reply email will be sent to applicants those who submitted the application so waiting for reply email.
