We are lucky to have someone like Megan Coburn in the Local Guides community. She is constantly seeking out new ways to help and serve her community, both here on Connect and on Google Maps. "Local Guides gives me the opportunity to make a measurable, positive impact on the world around me," she told us. "Other Local Guides contributed before me, and I made my choices based on their information without even knowing they had put in the work. Now it is my turn."

This year, she co-created the #StateChallenge to inspire Local Guides to share high-quality posts about different U.S. states and learn something interesting from the weekly meet-ups on the topic. She then co-hosted a "Lists for Google Maps" knowledge-sharing meet-up, which sparked a list-sharing challenge on Connect. Her current focus is a solo project: "How to: Collaborative Meet-ups," a tips-sharing meet-up that aims to help budding connectors by sharing tips and best practices.

On Maps, Megan includes information about COVID-19 measures in different places, which can help others decide where to go and eat. She's passionate about everyone feeling represented on Maps and has compiled lists about Black-owned businesses, women-led businesses, COVID-19 testing sites, local small businesses and more.
