Wonder of Waterfalls: Pykara Waterfall

Hello Friends,

Welcome to my brand-new series “Wonder of Waterfalls”. In this series, I’ll take you on a journey through some beautiful waterfalls—both from across India and beyond. Please note, the places featured here are ones I’ve personally visited.

Though this is not a challenge series, I warmly invite you to share your own experiences and interesting stories about waterfalls—either in the comments below or by tagging me with #WonderOfWaterfalls in your post!
Thank you @NandKK and @SayliWalve for tagging your waterfall posts as part of the ‘Wonder of Waterfalls’ series.

In the sixth post of this series, I’m excited to take you to the enchanting Pykara Waterfall, nestled in Pykara, Sholur, Tamil Nadu, India. Located along the route to Ooty, this picturesque spot is an ideal escape for Ghumakkad, Backpackers, and Families alike.

The Pykara River, the largest in the district, holds deep spiritual significance for the indigenous Toda community. Gracefully flowing through the scenic slopes of the Nilgiri Hills, the river showcases nature at its finest, especially during the monsoon and winter seasons, when its cascading waterfalls and tranquil reservoir are truly at their most spectacular.

Revered as sacred by the locals, Pykara is surrounded by unspoiled landscapes that offer a peaceful retreat for those seeking calm and connection with nature. The cool, mist-laden air and panoramic views lend the place a romantic charm that’s hard to resist.

Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, a photography lover, or simply passing through, Pykara Waterfall is a must-visit destination in Ooty, blending natural beauty, cultural depth, and refreshing serenity in one unforgettable experience.

During our visit, we didn’t get to witness it in its full glory due to low water inflow. However, we thoroughly enjoyed the serene surroundings and the captivating natural beauty of the hills and greenery.

Sharing is Learning.

Let’s continue building an informed, connected, and stronger :flexed_biceps: community together.

Stay Happy, Stay Healthy!

JAI HO!!!
