Explore Let’s Roam & Play #LG10ScavengerHunt 🗺️🎯

To participate in a Scavenger Hunt Meetup, we all know that downloading the LET’S ROAM app is mandatory. However, many Local Guides are unaware of an important and helpful fact — your entire team does not need separate mobile phones to play.

:mobile_phone: One Mobile, Many Local Guides!

Yes, it’s absolutely possible to play the Scavenger Hunt using:

  • One mobile phone for the entire team
  • Or 2–3 Local Guides sharing one device
  • Or individual mobiles if you prefer

Within one Let’s Roam account, you can add the names (Same as username on Connect) of all Local Guides participating in the hunt.

:backhand_index_pointing_right: Important Tip:
While creating your username on Let’s Roam, please ensure it is the same as your Local Guides Connect username. This helps in easy identification and award the Connect badge.

:books: Useful Resources for Let’s Roam to Play Scavenger Hunt

  • In this post, I have explained how to install the Let’s Roam app and join a team.
  • A similar resource from Googler Kristen is available here.
  • If you’re interested in the app and would like to explore it further in the future, you can create an account by following the steps shared in this post.

:tada: Free Access with Code

While exploring the Let’s Roam app, I discovered that most activities usually require paid tickets. However, thanks to Googler Kristen for providing us the opportunity to play the Scavenger Hunt for free, which truly added immense value to the experience. You will find the details in this post.

:hammer_and_wrench: Technical Issues & a Pleasant Surprise

During the game, we faced a technical issue. After reporting that to the Let’s Roam team, they genuinely appreciated our feedback and rewarded me with two free tickets valid for two years — a wonderful and unexpected bonus!

:glowing_star: Final Thoughts

I strongly recommend all Local Guides to participate or host LG10ScavengerHunt meet-up and explore the Let’s Roam app. You’ll find many interesting activities beyond the Scavenger Hunt as well. With the teamwork, it becomes a fun-filled experience of learning, exploration, and community bonding.

Congratulations!!! :tada: @NunungAfuah
Your team is currently in third position with 16,735 points — well done!

I had missed your team earlier on the LET’S ROAM app because the team name there didn’t match the name suggested by Kristen here.

I would suggest editing and updating your team name on the app to MLG_Oct05_MendolSantaiSayang so it’s easier to identify.

Thank you for appriciation :bouquet: :folded_hands:

Ups thank you for reminding me for the group name @SharmaK. I think it’s not possible to edit the name on the app right now, however I will try to reach out @Julie_A .

@NunungAfuah You can change the team name again.
Join using the LG10 code, then click on “Leaderboard.”
There you will find your team, which is currently at third place from the top.
In your team column, you will see “+ More.” When you click on it, the options Cancel, Change Name, and Join Team will appear.
Click Change Name, and type “MLG_Oct05_” just before MendolSantaiSayang, so the new name will be MLG_Oct05_MendolSantaiSayang and after changing the name, click Set Team Name.
That’s it—done. :check_mark:
Please check.

No problem, @NunungAfuah. I am compiling the meet-up proposal links, recap links, Username of Local Guides hosted and participated and team names on the LET’S ROAM app in tabular form and I will share it here after 31st December.

I am on my way to editing the name of the group, need to edit some materials on the last meet up. Thanks for your help @SharmaK

Greatly appreciate your dedication and efforts towards making the scavenger a global success @SharmaK

The tutorials were immensely helpful.
And your firts successful scavenger hunt meetup in Delhi was a huge inspiration for those waiting on the borderline.

Surprising that only 20 meetups were hosted around this fascinating concept.

Thank you for appreciation @TusharSuradkar. What surprised me even more was that, despite the clear deadline of 31st December, many meetups proposed on Connect continued to focus on traditional themes rather than this innovative Scavenger Hunt concept. We genuinely expected that, until the deadline, most meetups would revolve around this exciting initiative—but that didn’t quite happen.

This situation reminds me of my college professor, who often emphasized while teaching innovation that new ideas take time to gain societal acceptance. Continuous brainstorming and awareness-building are essential for driving change, and this experience reflects that reality very well.

Thank you, @SharmaK, for sharing this useful information. It’s good to know that one mobile phone is enough for the whole team. The tips about using the same username and getting a free code are very helpful.

Great post @SharmaK and so good that you’ve also given us the rundown of the teams that took part. Thank you! It was great fun - and we actually had a great atmosphere in our group too, as it coincided with the Manchester Christmas Parade so we incorporated the two events in one MeetUp and had a festive feel Scavenger Hunt as it went dark and cold, and the team atmosphere developed. Well done to every team and everyone who took part in this #LG10 event.
