Hello Local Guides!
Hope everyone is doing great. As many of you already know, the Scavenger Hunt Challenge is now live on Connect, and Local Guides communities across the world are joining in with full excitement. To keep pace with everyone, we also began our preparations from last week.
From the Bangladesh Local Guides Community, it was decided that we will host four meet-ups as part of this challenge. The first two will take place in Dhaka, and the remaining two will be held outside Dhaka. Local Guides from across the country are welcome to arrange additional meet-ups if they wish.
Detailed post of The Scavenger Hunt meetup series of BDLG
This post is about the first meet-up of the series, which took place on 14 November (Friday) at Laxmibazar, Old Dhaka. I had the honor of hosting it, also my first-ever hosted meet-up, which made it extra special for me.
Venue Selection
Old Dhaka’s Laxmibazar is one of the few places where centuries-old heritage and modern life blend together. From the historic Victoria Park (Bahadur Shah Park) built during British rule to today’s vibrant surroundings, the area has everything.
Because of this rich mix of culture, history, and activity, we chose Laxmibazar as the perfect location for our challenge.
Participants
From a list of interested Local Guides, seven members were selected for Day 1. They joined from different parts of Dhaka. The team included:
• @Nurul_Hasnat
• @mrinmoiHossain
• @Juber-Sahel
• @AbirAryan
• @ZH_EMON
• @TausifAkbar
• @AkterAshik
Meet-up Highlights
We gathered at Bahadur Shah Park around 4 PM. Once everyone arrived, we joined the challenge through the Let’s Roam app and began in front of Dhaka’s very first water tank.
Our opening task was a fun one, a team selfie! After that, we split into smaller groups to divide the challenges among us, which helped us complete everything efficiently and on time.
Throughout the walk, we:
• explored historic streets
• discovered hidden corners of Old Dhaka
• shared lots of laughter
• and enjoyed long, exciting walks together
The entire experience was enjoyable from start to finish.
Mid-break
Halfway through the challenge, we took a short break. Together we enjoyed:
• Beauty’s Lassi
• Puri
• and later, a warm cup of tea
These little moments made the meet-up even more memorable.
Some of the tasks were truly unforgettable — I’ve added a few photos below.
Final Score & Achievement
After almost 2.5 hours, at around 6:32 PM, we completed all our tasks. When we checked our score, we were thrilled to see:
15,000+ points
Ranked 5th globally!
This was a huge achievement for us and made the day even more rewarding.
Special Thanks
A big thank you to all the members who traveled from different parts of Dhaka to attend and contribute to this meet-up. Your enthusiasm and effort made the event truly successful. I’m grateful to each one of you. ![]()
