Today, Saturday, December 16, 2017, it looks like it will be a pretty solid day with activities in some locations. Saturday morning, we are invited to collaborate with other communities to enliven Saber Pungli activities (SA = sweep (rubbish), BER = clean, PUNG = plunge (into river), LI = river). At noon, we are also requested assistance from the creative house of Griya Anita to take children with disabilities to meet the invitation of Malang Town Square (Matos) in the Coloring Mask and Painting Competition in Telenan.
Saber Pungli is an incredible volunteer activity. Almost every week, various communities alternate enliven this activity. Similarly Batu Local Guides, this time the opportunity to participate plunged into the river. Incidentally, this Saber Pungli mat coincides with the 14th anniversary of the Batu Police Resort. Action Saber Pungli is also enlivened by the Community Reggae Star East Java who will perform in the afternoon until the evening. And quite a lot of other communities are here.
The Saber Pungli event was preceded by a simple ceremony, in the form of a briefing on the activities to be performed. Participants from various communities lined up neatly in the courtyard of Warung Watu Gedhek which became the gathering point of this event. The ceremony ended with a prayer reading by one of the volunteers from the Disaster Risk Reduction Forum (FPRB). After the ceremony was completed, all participants rushed down to the river to start Saber Pungli's main activities. Garbage trucks have been prepared. All participants mingled without division, hand in hand to pick up whatever garbage found in the river. Plastics, used bottles, sacks, and many other household wastes, are collected in ready-made sacks, then loaded into garbage trucks. For less than two hours, the garbage truck is full of garbage. The event then continued with enjoying the food and drinks that have been provided, while chatting casually with the Chief of Batu Police Resort, AKBP Budi Hermanto. The 16th edition of Saber Pungli event ended, marked with a photo with all the attendees.
