An Accessible Sundial in Pune with a Lavender Dial Plate

In pursuit of sundials far and near to me, I bumped into this beautiful sundial during my visit to the Pune University campus yesterday that could be seen from the roadside.

It was in fact built on the fencing wall of the IUCAA office or simply the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics.

Captivated by its beauty and magnificence I stood there marveling at its curvaceous lavender timescale.

There is an accessible entrance just beside that leads to the IUCAA office and I could view the sundial from the other side.

It was a sunny afternoon in Pune and I could clearly see that it was indicating 12:30. Here is a closer look.

The main entrance is accessible as seen in the first photo

The sundial itself is accessible via a staircase that has a hand-railing to facilitate the differently-abled.

1. The huge huge huge Sundial at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.

2. A very very tall sundial in Jantar Mantar Jaipur.

3. A unique wall-mounted sundial in the Garden of 5 Senses in Delhi.

4. The most beautiful sundial in the world, also in Delhi.

This place is not visible on Maps and though I added it immediately, it is pending approval.

@ajitthite The sundial is on the left when we enter Pune university campus from the Spicer College road via Bremen Chowk in Aundh.

The road is Meghnad Saha Road. I think not many people enter the campus from this side.

I have seen this sundial few years ago when I was used to visit IUCAA. During those days I was associated with an astronomy organization. Your article refreshed my memories.

No no.. I am not aware that we can climb up the sundial. I have just seen it many times while passing from the road beside. @Tushar_Suradkar
