Regarding your question, I want to share with you that , Local Guides is a community based platform that relies on voluntary contributions from users to help others make informed decisions about places. The Local Guides program encourages users to write reviews, share photos, answer questions, and edit map information. While participants earn points and levels for their contributions, the program is not designed to generate perks.
Here you can read more details about this topic Question about a Local Guides reward email? Read this first
But yes, Recognition comes through badges, levels, and occasional perks, which are offered based on the quality and consistency of contributions. To be eligible for perks, users must enable perk-related emails in Local Guides settings and remain active contributors.
Participation is entirely voluntary, with the main goal being to assist others and improve the map experience for everyone.
I also wanted to recommend to you, check Read first! Connect community guidelines for more information on Connect redesign FAQ: Your questions answered!,
& You can also Visit Community guidelines & you can read also How do I write a topic on Connect? for in-depth resources on the Connect features.
Thank you
1. Name: Bakyt
2. Location: Manas, Kyrgyzstan
3. What I love about being a Local Guide:
I enjoy discovering new places and sharing information that can genuinely be useful to other people. I especially like adding places that are missing from Google Maps, updating outdated information, and showing Kyrgyzstan through my photos and videos.
4. My favorite thing to explore:
Probably Kyrgyzstan beyond the usual tourist routes — mountains, small towns and villages, roads, and places that sometimes have very little information available online.
5. Fun fact about me:
Sometimes a journey becomes memorable for a completely different reason than the one you expected. Recently, I was hiking to Saimaluu-Tash when my hiking boots decided to end their journey before I did.
That adventure became my first story on Connect.

Hi Everyone!!!
I am Shaheer
Location: Toba Tek Singh, Pakistan
What led me to become a Local Guide:
Honestly I didn’t even know about this at first. I just started reviewing places on my own, then began uploading pictures too. I love helping people, and as a foodie, whenever I have a good experience I post about it, and if I have a bad one I post that too so people know what to expect. I found out I was a Local Guide when I got an email about it, lol. To introduce myself, I’ve been in marketing for 3 years now, handling paid ads on both Google and Meta. I’m Meta certified and currently working on my Google certification too, I just love learning. Wherever I go, I post about my experience there.
My favorite thing to explore:
I love food, and other than that, tech, mobiles, laptops and internet stuff. I’ve been watching tech reviews as a hobby for the last decade, started when I was 12 and now I’m 22.
Fun fact about me:
I’m a people person, I love making friends. In my opinion this is one of the best platforms, I actually figured it out just last week, I didn’t even know Google had a portal like this. And lastly, feel free to reach out to me if you need help finding your next mobile or laptop, or anything marketing related. My stats right now are Level 7, 1.2k contributions, 5.5k points, 1.8m views, and 121 reviews.
