This month, meet @Elyy! @Elyy is a Local Guide Level 7, and here’s what she shared.

2. Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (Originally from the Philippines!

3. What led you to become a Local Guide: I am someone who relies heavily on Maps whenever I travel, move to a new area, or look for a place to eat. One day, while looking for a place to settle down, I realized how much I truly appreciate the strangers who take the time to upload clear food photos or write helpful tips about a workspace. I wanted to be that helpful voice for others too!
Sharing my honest experiences and taking photos of everything from beautiful coffee art to hidden street food gems helps me give back to a global community that has guided me so many times. Every time I add a helpful detail about a place, I like to think I am making someone else’s day just a little bit easier.
4. My favorite thing to explore: My absolute favorite thing to explore is the local food scene, especially cozy cafes and unique restaurants. I love finding great, relaxing spaces where you can just chill with friends, get some work done, or hold small group meetings. A cafe with great lighting, reliable Wi-Fi, and a peaceful atmosphere is my ultimate happy place.
Beyond the calm cafe life, I have a completely different adventurous side. I am a passionate explorer who loves heading out into nature, taking long, scenic cable car rides, and discovering beautiful, wide mountain views. There is nothing quite like standing above the clouds and taking in the fresh air after a busy week in the city.
5. Fun fact about me: I have a funny balance of loving quiet indoor productivity but being completely unstoppable when it comes to chasing beautiful views. I do not let unpredictable weather or cloudy, chilly days spoil my plans at all! Even if the sun hides and the misty weather rolls into the mountains, you will still find me standing happily among the green hills with a huge smile on my face, ready to capture the perfect shot. I believe every single trip is a great experience, rain or shine!
