Want to support your favorite local businesses? This month, let’s celebrate the places where you love to shop. To support the effort, we’ll be sharing useful tips, spotlighting fun stores, and featuring the some of your best photos.

This November, share where you shopPeople all around the world search for stores on Google Maps. When you add photos to places, you let others see what they’re like and what’s for sale.

Here’s how to give an in-store photo tour:

• Take a wide shot when you first walk in to show the space
• Post photos of shelves or racks with products on display
• Add close-ups of items you love

Our photo lead, @AnnaDickson, has more great tips for taking indoor photos. Keep them in mind while you’re shopping and sharing photos on Google Maps. Remember to write captions for your photos to tell people about the shops and items.

Be sure to add your photos on social, too, with #LocalGuides. Each week, we’ll feature some of our favorites here on Connect and on our social channels. You can even host or join a meet-up to explore stores in your area, adding photos and updating info along the way.

One other thing: We understand you can run into challenges when you’re taking photos in someone’s business. Before you shoot, take a moment to review our community policy if you’re not sure about taking images in businesses or have any other questions about interactions with business owners.

Most of the Branded Shopping centers don't allow to click the Pictures, (Eg: Macys, Costco, and many more Shopper stop)  Even though we say we are Google Local Guide :(, they ask for ID card , which we Don't have that 
Why can't google provided some ID card,

Word of advice: in most of the big shops (Cora, Lidl, Kaufland Selgros, etc) and most shops containing unique designer intems(bride And groom, tailors, etc), taking photos is strictly forbidden, And You can get in trouble with the managers And local security.

Always mAke sure its ok with the management when You take photos.

Timeless and unique, this Florence, Alabama store is an excellent place for tourist to shop but locals know it is a great place for bargains. This store features classic hats for men and women, Carhartt apparel, lots of tees, some military gear knives, wallets, and the coolest thing...hundreds of old photos related to the Shoals music industry. The building is old, the wood floors original, and the display cases are as interesting as the objects within.   #LocalGuides

No it's not a problem at all , Things change all the time within the world , I'll give you an example.

Native Tui of New Zealand

If someone asked me if this Tui would be in the same position each and every day so they could come down someday and take a photo , I would have to say no , why because it can fly away.

People have to be realistic an know that what they see in a photo on Google Maps may not be what they get when they arrive there due to change.

This video is a great example ( Christchurch Adventure Park finally reopens ) , and here it is on Google Maps ( Christchurch Adventure Park ) 

Very different with the fire damage don't you think.

If people set their expectation high, then they are going to be disappointed alot.

I really like taking pictures in local shops but often find the employess dont want pictures taken. Even after explaining what your up to they ask you to not take pictures. Anyone have a good work around for this?

You could get there really early when the place just opens and hopefully only has one or two employess around so you can take photos.
