[RECAP] Malaysia Local Guides Exploring Cyberjaya & Putrajaya, 7 Jan 2018

[RECAP] Malaysia Local Guides Exploring Cyberjaya & Putrajaya, 7 Jan 2018

*Best to read on a PC

Malaysia Local Guides explores Cyberjaya and Putrajaya, twin new-generation cities in Malaysia. Whilst tourists may be very familiar with Kuala Lumpur the capital of Malaysia, both the other cities are usually not too well known to visitors as they both are the "new generation" cities that were built for the new Malaysia. Cyberjaya being the first high-tech city for multi-national companies, and Putrajaya the administrative capital of Malaysia. Local Guides in Malaysia had planned this visit for some time now. This Sunday, we had a wonderful opportunity to visit here, and it's not too near to Kuala Lumpur, about 1 hour's drive.

This video is a 2-minute very short summary of our meet-up. Although, do take time to read through all the below to share in our experiences. 🙂

It was a Sunday, and traffic to the area wasn't too heavy. We all agreed to meet up in the Cyberjaya Lake Gardens. Google Maps Location (https://goo.gl/maps/vgiddNqmXxw). It was the first time for most of us to visit this place and over the weekends, families usually plan picnics here. We were enjoying our leisurely walk, appreciating the wonder of nature, green trees, beautiful lakes filled with fish and lotus plants, it was quite amazing. Many families were spending time with each other there.  (Below)

We also spent some time updating the gaps in Google Street View in the Cyberjaya Lake Gardens, complementing the current data set with close to 100 panorama shots.  (Below)

We had then taken a short drive to the Raycer Powerhouse Go-Kart Circuit. Google Maps Location (https://goo.gl/maps/2h2qcsLyfUM2). We were just intriqued by the sport of racing around in tiny open air race cars. It was fun watching people race around for a bit of time.  (Below)

Then we had gone explore the Cyberjaya Community Club, and there-in, we tried a few rounds of hitting golf balls in the driving range. Google Maps Location (https://goo.gl/maps/n5ZhsyaA2dm). Again, this was the first time for most of us hitting a golf ball. The experience was very rewarding, and of course, most of the time, we missed the ball! Very good price of RM 11 (that's under USD 3) for 100 balls. We took our time to take in the experience and were just enjoying ourselves. We even had one of the staff teach us for free! It was amazing!  (Below)

After getting tired and hungry of some time hiting golf balls, we then had our snacks, drinks and cake, made by Steve. Local Guides colors and design. 🙂

After some time shooting panoramas under the hot sun, we were done with mapping for the day. Time to cool off with some cold drinks. Headed for some nice ice tea at Al-Mehran Restaurant in Cyberjaya. Google Maps Location (https://goo.gl/maps/t5tP8RgkPX42)

Thank you @StephenAbraham@HaseebM and  @WongCheeWeng for arranging and participating in a venture to explore the twin cities. There is indeed plenty to explore. Cyberjaya is just two decades old city. However, it has emerged as a most lively and vibrant living and work place in such a short span of time... Cyberjaya is a living evidence of the work of "Great Malaysia"

Wow @StephenAbraham, I am exhausted just reading and seeing all your photos and videos of your day at Cyberjaya & Putrajaya. Thanks for taking the time in writing, editing and uploading your thorough meet-up recap.

What I found fascinating is that there is no traffic or many people in your videos.  I know KL is full of cars and millions of people. Is it because these two new twin cities are new, no one lives there yet?

Cheers,

Karen

@KarenVChin Wow.. you managed! I was going to write that the first summary video was for TLDR (too long don't read) .. 🙂

Yes Kuala Lumpur is always congested, the 2 "new" cities of Cyberjaya and Putrajaya are about 1 hour away from Kuala Lumpur and in the weekend they are usually really quiet. Most of the driving video were taken in Putrajaya the capital administrative city where all the government ministries are, so on Sundays, usually very few people are there.

Thanks for taking time to read.. and to reply! 🙂

Great to see your videos @StephenAbraham.

Yesterday after watching the two minute video, I was about to ask, 'Was that a mosque ?' 🤔 The confusion is cleared from today's videos. 😄

Thanks for sharing. Hope we can meet soon !

@StephenAbraham The colour for the Local Guides logo on your cake is so — as what they say — ON POINT!
