Using Bit rate Low mode of THETA V , we can shoot long time / long distance.

THETA V now allows us to select the video bitrate.
Although it goes against high image quality orientation, I will talk about the merit of making Bit rate Low of 4K.

THETA V で動画のビットレートが選択できるようになりました。
高画質志向とは逆行しますが、 4K動画撮影時に Bit rate を Low にすることのメリットをお話します。

The best advantage is that the file size is small.
In this example of shooting, SV App continued shooting for 37 minutes after pushing the shooting start button.
Automatically divided every 3 minutes and 13 movies were taken.
All the videos are as follows.

一番のメリットはファイルサイズが小さいことです。
今回の撮影の例では、SV App は 撮影開始ボタンを押してから37分間撮影し続けて、3分毎に自動分割された13本の動画になりました。
全ビデオは以下のとおりです。

1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13

The file size is about 0.7 GB in 3 minutes.
This is very small compared to 5.4 K (1.8 GB in 3 minutes) or High bit rate of 4K (1.2 GB in 3 minutes) .
However, the image quality is not so bad.
See Street View as follows. Isn't it beautiful?

ファイルサイズは 3分で 0.7GB 程度です。
これは、High bit rate of 4K (3分で1.2GB) や 5.4K (3分で1.8GB) に比べてとても小さいです。
しかし、画質はそれほど悪くありません。
ストリートビューは以下のようになりました。きれいでしょう。

A little ingenuity is necessary to shoot movies that can be used for Street View in Low bit rate mode.
Currently, we can not explicitly select 5.4K or 4K on SV App.
If we shoot at 5.4 K, the Bit rate option is invalid.
In order to stably set the bit rate Low of 4K, please perform the following operation.
1) Connect THETA V to smartphone with Wi-Fi and launch both Sv App and TEHTA App.
2) In THETA App, switch to movie mode after temporarily switching to still picture mode.
3) In the movie mode setting screen, select bit rate Low.
4) Now shoot a movie with SV App, the video should be in Bit rate Low mode of 4K.

Low bit rate mode でストリートビューに使用できる動画を撮影するには、少し工夫が必要です。
現在、SV Appは、5.4K と 4K との選択を明示的に行うことが出来ません。
もし 5.4K で撮影されれば、Bit rate の選択肢は無効です。
安定して 4K の bit rate Low にするためには、以下のような操作をしてください。
1) TEHTA V とスマホをWi-Fi接続し、Sv App と TEHTA App とをともに立ち上げてください。
2) THETA App で、一旦静止画モードにしたあと、動画モードに切り替えてください。
3) 動画モードの設定画面で、bit rate Low を選択してください。
4) その後 SV App で動画撮影すれば、4K の Bit rate Low モードになるはずです。

I confirm that this operation is valid only in my environment shown below.
この操作が有効であることは、以下に示した私の環境でのみ確認しています。
My shooting systems are :
  THETA V Firmware 2.50.1
  THETA App. for Android ver. 1.20.2
  Street View App. for Android 2.0.0.218515229

 In order to reduce the file size, it may be effective to reduce the audio data.But I have not succeeded yet.
ファイルサイズを小さくするためには、音声データを削減することも有効かもしれません。しかし、私はまだ成功していません。

I imagined that shooting would be harsh because the waves were high in the Sea of Japan.
Actually, I was able to operate the camera only when the ferry speed was slow (at the time of departure and arrival at the port) ,
operation of the equipment was almost impossible in the open ocean.
For that reason, I search a way to keep shooting video for a long time without operating or checking, and then I came there to shoot .
Shooting was successful.

この撮影は、うねりのある日本海で行うので過酷になるであろうと想像していました。
実際に、カメラを操作できたのは出港時と入港時の、フェリーの速度が遅いときだけで、
外洋では機材の操作はほぼ不可能でした。そのため、長い時間、操作や確認をせずに撮影し続けられる方法を研究してからこの撮影に臨みました。
結果は、撮影は成功しました。

However, the camera was exposed to splashes of seawater throughout the shooting.
I was under 3 meters of the camera and the whole body became soaked with seawater as a matter of course.
It is a failure in equipment operation.

しかし、カメラは海水を浴びましたし、カメラの3m下にいた私は海水で全身がずぶ濡れになりました。
機材の運用面では失敗です。

When shooting video in the sea it is necessary to prepare mind for the equipment to be broken.

海で使う際には機材が壊れることを覚悟してください。

「良い子はマネをしないでね」(On your own risk)

Fortunately, I only broke the mobile battery. Both the camera and smartphone I used at this shooting are safe and are still in operation.

幸いなことに、私はモバイルバッテリーが壊れただけで済みました。このとき使用していたカメラもスマホも無事であり、現在も稼働しています。

Never Bit rate Low Mode is not bad. Please utilize Low bit rate mode on land or in the air.

決して Bit rate Low Mode が悪いわけではありません。陸上や空中でぜひ Low bit rate mode を活用してくださいね。

I liked that you wrote your post in English and Japonese at the same time, it's another solution for me as well, because when I'm writing a post always question myself if I have to write it in Portuguese or in English, maybe I'll use this tip too.

@potaro67 Thanks for sharing this. It will be useful for long journeys that may not need a lot of detail like the ocean view. And I think battery life will be longer also with low bit rate.

海水は怖いです。島についてからモバイルバッテリーの出力のUSB端子から息を吹き込んだら
反対側の充電用マイクロUSBの口から海水が霧吹きのように出てきました。もちろんこのバッテリーは使えなくなりましたが、
今でも出力端子にUSBケーブルを差し込むと「出力中」のランプが点きます。(出力は無し)
このバッテリーはもうお年なので良いのですけど、
慌てて機材の掃除をしているときに新しい方の THETA V を倒してレンズに傷をつけてしまったことがほんとに残念。
せっかく海水スプラッシュには耐え抜いたのに。。。

Let me add explanation about THETA V battery duration.
THETA V will be empty in about an hour even if you turn on the power without shooting.
And I can shoot 5.4K movies for 27 minutes in a row to full of THETA V's memory.
By using THETA App, it is possible to shoot interval mode continuously for one hour.
So, I do not feel a significant difference due to differences in shooting methods. It consumes just by turning on the power.
Perhaps, turning off Wi-Fi communication may dramatically last longer (I have not tested it).
In this shooting, I used an extension rod for charging.

THETA Vのバッテリーの持続時間についての説明を追加します。
THETA V は、撮影をせずに電源を入れているだけでも、一時間程度でバッテリーが空になります。
5.4K動画を27分連続で撮影することも出来ます。
THETA Appを利用して、1時間連続でインターバルモードの撮影をすることもできます。
ですので、撮影方法の違いによる有意な差は、私は感じていません。電源が入っているだけで消耗します。
もしかしたら、Wi-Fiの通信をOFFにしたら劇的に長持ちするかもしれません(テストはしていません)。
今回の撮影ではエクステンションロッドを使用して、充電しながら撮影しました。
