Hello Local Guides,
Hurray!!!
Finally, it’s the beginning of our spotlight week. A happy and warm welcome to everyone joining us for this fun and exciting SPOTLIGHT WEEK !!! Let’s Celebrate!!!

To begin, we will present to you a brief history and introduction of the TRAC community as a whole. TRACians are a distinguished community of Local Guides who are keenly interested in roads on Google Maps as a whole.

TRAC is an acronym that stands for;
Thousand
Roads
Added
Campaign
This global group of Local Guides was established on 23rd March 2023. It was an idea that came into existence as a result of my drive for an accurate network of roads on Google Maps. Therefore, TRAC is a community of Google Maps enthusiasts that specializes mainly in adding new roads and editing old ones. There are some very accurate and professional Local Guides among us, as well as a few Connect moderators participating. In general, we are always motivated and focused on achieving our set goals.
Subsequently, we also have a sequel group called TORM, which is an acronym for;
TRAC
On
Road
Mapper
The difference is that TRAC is adding roads directly on live Google Maps while TORM is adding roads through the Google Maps Road Mapper program. On the live Map, we track the number of roads on our profiles. On Road Mapper, we count Kms and Challenges completed. Otherwise, the idea is basically the same. It’s all about improving the road network on Google Maps in general.
Unlike other communities of Local Guides, we are without borders. We are beyond geographical limits. We are a team of about 100 Local Guides from over 20 countries. We are represented in almost all the geographical regions of the world.
- Asia
- Europe
- South America
- North America
- Australia
- Africa
We exist on all six continents! Basically, our ‘Community’ is all around the globe. We are a distinct sub-community within the broader community of Local Guides.
It’s our third year of existence, and we have continually hosted our event on the 23rd of March every year. This current year was an exception; we started on 1st March 2025, specifically to celebrate Local Guides at 10.
In 2023, we held our First community event, which ran for 6 months. The target was 3,000 roads, which we quickly achieved. The first TRAC Team event ultimately created 50,000 Roads!!!

We also held a brief event “Stay on TRAC” for 3 weeks on 2023. 3rd Nov-3rd Dec 2023. We achieved a total of 10,492 roads.
In 2024, our event ran for 3 months, and we achieved a total of 100,000 roads on Google Maps.

In 2025, we had an interesting idea and we decided to pair up into 3 teams:
We worked as individual teams, and one team won as opposed to one local guide with the highest number of roads. In 2025, we closed with a total Of 137,667 Roads on Google maps!!!

The TRAC community is very proud of all our road achievements every year. We have organised several meet-ups on adding roads. We have also hosted great achievement-based meet-ups. We have some very educational posts on Connect about adding roads and working together. However, our most outstanding achievement is the Road mapping Champion Badge!!!
We have a total of 5 TRACians who hold a Road Mapping Champion badge. We expect that in due course, other members of the community will achieve this badge. This badge came about as a result of our community effort as TRACians. Thanks to the entire Google and Local Guides team for recognising and awarding badges to TRACians.
In conclusion, what do we expect of TRAC in the near future? In the upcoming year, TRAC’s primary season will begin on 1st March 2026, with bigger and brighter ideas. We are continually exploring and deliberating on our moves. Join us to find out!

Regarding TORM, we are actively collaborating with the backend team to address questions and access-related challenges. With this ongoing support, we anticipate that certain aspects will evolve and improve positively in the near future. Trust us and stay with us. We are a TEAM, and we move together!!!
We have just concluded Our 1st season on TORM on the 31st of Oct 2025. We achieved a huge sum of 76,883 challenges and 62,571 Kilometres. A hearty congratulations to the team!!!
