Vote for the new look of the Local Guides community-owned logo!

UPDATE (May 1): :rocket: We’ve just published the refreshed set of community assets—check them out and get started on your new designs [here]!

UPDATE (Apr 20): A huge thank you to the members of our community who cast their votes! We are now busy preparing the updated program resources based on your selection. We ask for just a little more of your patience while we get everything ready for you. Please stay tuned, we can’t wait to share the final assets with you very soon!

Hi everyone,

Following our announcement regarding the Local Guides visual identity update, we are thrilled to invite you to help shape the next chapter of our community branding!

As we developed the new look for the program, we knew how critical it was to also create a version of the logo specifically for community use. While the official Local Guides logo and badge are reserved for Google’s official use, this new community-facing design is being built so you can celebrate the pride you take in being a Local Guide.

Since this is the symbol that will represent you during your community-owned activities, we wanted to let you decide. Whether you’re organizing a local photowalk or hosting a meetup, the chosen logo will ensure your initiatives are visually aligned with the program’s new look while staying unique to the Local Guides community.

Once this vote is finalized, we will retire the previous community assets (from this post) and publish a new topic with the winning design and instructions for you to download and use.

  • Your current swag: If you already have shirts, stickers, or banners with the previous branding, please continue to wear and display them with pride!

  • The path forward: For any new materials or events you create, we ask that you adopt the new community branding once it is officially chosen and released.

How to vote

Below, you’ll find two design options we’ve developed, presented on white / dark backgrounds and in black / white versions. We have used “Brooklyn” as an example for the vote but this is where you’ll eventually fill in YOUR local community name

Take a look and think about which one best represents the spirit of your local meetups, initiatives, and community leadership.

  • Option A - multiple instances of the Local Guides star in various colors, representing the diversity and globality of our Local Guides community.

  • Option B - outline of the Local Guides star with dots, representing the community members supporting the program.

Share your preference below and be sure to cast your vote by April 18.
  • Option A
  • Option B

It’s a really tough decision, but I was immediately drawn to option A and like it as it looks like Local Guides moving together (like each uf us a different star?) but, I also like option B, in the way it’s a part of the actual Local Guides logo. For now, I choose A! It could change if I keep thinking or if I’m persuaded

My vote goes to option A - since it is a nice transition from the old to the new.
