For quite some time now fellow Connect moderator @SholaIB has been mentioning the desire to have a leaderboard series based on Local Guide road contributions. You may have seen Shola’s Leaderboards On Roads-Polll post. In my reply New Roads Leaderboards post, I mentioned that I’d be happy to help and give it a shot and so here we are on the eve of the 6 year anniversary of the Top 100 Leaderboards on Connect.

Welcome to the inaugural edition of our Roads Leaderboards! Following requests from the Google Maps Local Guides TRAC team, we are excited to launch a brand-new set of leaderboards dedicated entirely to celebrating mapping contributions and road editing achievements from Local Guides across the globe!

In this first instalment of our Roads leaderboards, we spotlight the incredible mapping efforts of our community. It includes:

• An overall top 100 leaderboard celebrating the highest Roads contributors across all Local Guide levels;

• Dedicated leaderboards highlighting the top 100 Local Guides at each individual level (Level 10 down to Levels 1–5), showcasing mapping talents from every rank;

• Country-specific leaderboards presenting the top roads contributors within each country, as well as the Top 3 contributors per nation;

• And, to be soon added, dedicated Roads Movers & Shakers board celebrating the highest month-over-month growth, and a Roads Newbies board recognizing new participants joining the rankings for the first time.

Readme - How to read the Roads leaderboards (June, 2026)

Briefly, this is what you need to know about the leaderboards in this post. For more details see the leaderboard documentation and the Leaderboard System’s online context-sensitive help information.

1. The leaderboards in this post present details about the Local Guide roads contributions of hundreds of participating Local Guides from all over the world. As well as an overall leaderboard ranking the top 100 Local Guides by roads, you will see leaderboards for different Local Guide levels which provide you with direct comparisons of your *roads contributions * with that of your peers. Additionally, leaderboards are included that showcase the top Local Guides roads contributions in each country.
2. Where shown, [ ] around leaderboard sequence numbers indicate that this is the first time that this Local Guide has participated on the Top 100 Local Guides leaderboards.
3. Where shown, ( ) around leaderboard sequence numbers indicate that this Local Guide levelled up/down on this leaderboard.
4. An asterisk (*) shown after a Connect Username indicates that that Local Guide is a Connect Moderator.
5. Double asterisks (**) shown after a Connect Username indicate that that Local Guide is a Googler.
6. The Leaderboards System uses 8 different superscripts to indicate the varying states of a Local Guide’s Maps and Connect profiles. On the Roads Leaderboards a superscript of [1] indicates that while the Local Guide is included on the roads leaderboards, because their Maps profile was hidden at the time of reading the data for this month’s Leaderboards, they will not be included on this month’s Photo Views and star media leaderboards (see point 14 below)!
7. Local Guides suspended or who have left the Local Guides program are excluded from the Roads Leaderboards.
8. If you have changed (a) your Connect username, or (b) your Maps profile in some way (e.g. changed your username or profile picture), (c) your Maps profile status from public to hidden or vice versa then you may not appear on one or more of the leaderboards. If so then you must provide the details in a comment on this post.
9. Hovering over a Local Guide’s username will display the number that integrates that Local Guide’s details on the Leaderboards System and Connect; the umbilical chord if you will between the two disparate systems.
10. Selecting a Connect username will take you either to that Local Guide’s Connect Profile or to their HUB.
11. If a number is displayed in a small gray circle following a username, that number indicates the number of times anyone has selected that username to visit the respective Local Guide’s Connect profile or HUB.
12. A ? or the words “Not set” in a cell indicates that the respective value hasn’t been provided by or cannot be determined for the respective Local Guide.
13. Usernames shown as @Anonymous have either been deleted from or have left the Local Guides program.
14. The data for the leaderboards in this post was read at 1145 on Monday, July, 6, 2026 (UTC).
15. Local Guides included on the leaderboards must check their entries for any errors. If you should find any errors or omissions, please add the details in a comment on this post. Regarding omissions, please note point 12 above.

Hello everyone,

This inaugural set of roads leaderboards is brought to you from Hotel Amara Singapore and as I’m away from my home desk, we may well have errors and/or omissions so I need your help to find these and fine tune things (e.g. eliminate all those zero entries shown). Please check the leaderboards and let’s together make them rock. There will be a number of missing TRAC participants and they will need to register on the Top 100 Leaderboards to participate and @SholaIB has undertaken to organise this.

I already knew, @AdamGT Sir, that if Shola made a request or shared an idea, you couldn’t just jump on it. After all, data and data mining are in your blood, and the Local Guides Leaderboard is your identity. How could you let it go? I was confident that the Leaderboard would come to fruition, and with that confidence, I shared a small idea of ​​mine. Whether my idea worked or not is a different matter, but bringing an exclusive Leaderboard for Roaders is truly amazing.

To be honest, I hadn’t lost the interest in Live Road Editing like I used to. But the introduction of the Leaderboard has rekindled some enthusiasm. Now I feel I’ll have to focus on it again!

Thank you for your very kind appreciation @shaileno. These things take time and effort and while I have had one of the busiest months, and while I’m currently overseas in a hotel room in Singapore, I thought I’d have a crack at it. Look it’s not perfect yet, but together we can make that happen.

I’m very please to hear you say that these leaderboards will rekindle your enthusiasm to get back into road editing. I only wish I had some spare time to be able to join you but while most willing, I am just unable to.
