In this post back in early August, I shared a vision for something special: a dynamic, hot-linkable wall designed to feature hundreds, if not thousands, of our amazing community Local Guides. The original Wall of Fame was a simple idea, but it was always intended to be rich in functionality and today, I am thrilled to announce the next major phase of that journey. What started as a “brick in the wall” has now evolved into a powerful, personalized Local Guide HUB
The Journey Since August
The Wall of Fame remains the heartbeat of this project—a 10 x 10 grid that randomly cycles through participating Local Guides from our global community, ensuring every guide gets their moment in the spotlight. But now, clicking your brick does so much more.
Your “brick” now links to a custom-built dashboard that acts as your ultimate community business card:
Integrated Profiles: Seamlessly link your Maps and Connect profiles.
Feature Your “Stars”: Automatically showcase your most-viewed photo and video.
Social Connectivity: Connect with fellow guides via Facebook, Instagram, or Telegram.
Media Gallery (Advanced): Pro users can now transform their HUB into a stunning full-screen slideshow of their Google Photos—perfect for casting to large screens.
Smart Analytics: See exactly how people found you, whether it was through the Wall, your Connect signature, or a monthly leaderboard.
This evolution wouldn’t be possible without the Local Guides who helped refine the HUB. A huge thank you to our global team of beta testers who helped refine the HUB experience. Check out these examples of how the Wall is coming to life:
If you aren’t already a participant on the Wall, now is the perfect time to claim your spot.
Upgrade your presence*: If you’re already on The Wall, check out your new HUB features!, otherwise,
Claim your brick: If you’re a participant on the Leaderboards simply login to your new HUB via the Leaderboard System to claim your space in the community mosaic otherwise, complete this form and join the long queue waiting for their Brick in the Wall.
Thank you for being part of this journey from a simple idea in August to the rich community tool we have today.
Greetings to you too, @AdamGT. I took a look at my own hub and compared it to the example you posted. I don’t do social media, so I’m not surprised those items are missing, but please give us some insight into the Media Gallery, Speed, Captions, and Share buttons. Also I note a timestamp at the top, but it seems to be showing time from a different time zone.
@AdamGT Love this feature. Hub is a great way to access all the relevant information of a LG, Already added the brick to my signature. Awesome innovation. Thanks for all you do for the community.
Thanks @AdamGT!
Now my signature includes the #BrickInTheWall badge and it links to my personal hub.
You can follow LocalGuidesMexico socials from there
Good morning @tony_b, on behalf of @AdamGT who might be very busy now, a quick response:
The Media Gallery is work in process. When finished, we will be able to share photos via Google Photos in this gallery. The Speed then defines how many seconds each photo of the gallery will be shown before automatically scrolling to the next and Captions allows only you, as the owner of a Media gallery, to provide a caption and a short story for each photo.
Share … I don’t know yet neither and can only guess, we can create a link to our Hub to share with others.
Wow @AdamGT this is really cool, really appreciate your efforts and everyone involved in testing the features, very much liked the idea and conceptualization. Like many others I have also included it in my signature. Great initiative kudos to you.
Great idea as always! Very Glad to be part .. congratulations for those features and thanks for sharing and allowed us …it’s an real pleasure ! ..
Some days ago someone whispered that Mr @AdamGT were going to play this time “ Santa Claus..” and we’re going to get gifts through drones delivery…since I’m checking upstairs and around..
Did you hear it too Mr @WilfriedB and mr @PrasadVR or I were the only one!? ..
Congratulations once again I’ve checked mine too that looks amazing!.and very practice..
@tony_b
My guess is that the share will work the same way sharing our connect or Maps profile works, however The share button will probably generate the link for you.
The “block” icons that Adam has been creating for signatures act as a link to guide’s Hub.
I think that the Hub you created for LG’s in the wall of fame is fabulous. It is a delight and so easy to be able to access so many facets of a guide’s profile. I’m especially fond of the links to the star photo and star video. Until now there was no easy way to search for them; and now you don’t even have to search at all! Everything seems to be working very well and I’m looking forward to adding captions to my photo collection gallery. It also is quite lovely visually!
Thank you so much for creating this wonderful asset for local guides who are active on Connect.
