As I mentioned in my January 2026 post while introducing the Monthly Community-Led Meet-up Leaderboard initiative during #LGC10, community-led meet-ups are truly the heart of Local Guides Connect. They bring us together to learn from one another, build meaningful connections, and strengthen local communities across the world. In this Recap of Recaps series, we continue
celebrating
the incredible efforts of our
community
in hosting and participating in meetups by presenting a country-wise leaderboard of participants—where every host is also counted as a participant. This post is all about celebrating our community’s amazing meet-up achievements
. Let’s keep the focus here on appreciation and positivity.
For discussions or suggestions, feel free to continue the conversation here: Celebrating Meet-ups, Shaping Conversations: A Space for Learning and Clarity
Continuing this initiative, I analyzed the February 2026 meet-up data to go beyond just numbers—focusing on participation trends, recap practices, and areas where we can improve. The goal remains the same: to encourage timely recaps, promote inclusive participation, and support the growth of active Local Guides communities across regions.
Overall Meetup Statistics
- A total of 92 meetup proposals were posted
- Organized by 66 Local Guides
- As of 23rd March 2026, 19 recaps (21%) are still pending
Meetup Formats in February 2026: In-Person Leads the Way (60%)
Country-wise Participation
It’s inspiring to see global engagement from Local Guides across countries ![]()
Explore country-wise meetup data here: leaderboard link
- India hosted the highest number of meetups
- Followed by Bangladesh and Indonesia
Popular Meetup Themes
Different themes reflect the diversity of our community contributions.
Check topic-wise meetup distribution here: (topic-wise link)
- The most popular theme was Map Editing
- 24% of meetups (22 out of 92) focused on improving Google Maps
A Good Practice Worth Appreciating
While reviewing recaps, I noticed a commendable practice by @Shashankkundar and @Vkm_Yasar ![]()
When their meetup was cancelled due to weather conditions, they:
- Still created a recap post
- Clearly mentioned that the meetup was cancelled
This is a great example for everyone!
The 21% hosts with pending recaps can learn from this by:
- Posting their recap
- Or clearly stating if the meetup was cancelled
Key Gap: Missing Participant Details
- In 16 recaps (17%), no participants were mentioned
- In several others, the participant list seemed incomplete
A Request to All Meetup Hosts
To make recaps more impactful and transparent:
Please clearly include:
- Total number of participants
- Usernames of attendees
Suggested format:
- Add a separate heading (e.g., Participants)
- Provide a complete list alongwith number of meet-up attendees.
Celebrating Meetup Participants
A meetup cannot be successful without its participants—they are the backbone of every event ![]()
To recognize their efforts, I’ve created a:
