Thank you @curatorofmemory for your detailed feedback and for appreciating the effort behind this compilation.
I would like to clarify an important point regarding the purpose of meetups. As highlighted in the post “How to organize a successful meet-up” by Google Moderator @MoniDi, meetups are not limited to task-based outcomes. In fact, it clearly states:
“Local Guides like you host meet-ups to explore an area, try new places, and, most importantly, make great friends! Meet-ups give you the opportunity to informally get together with like-minded people…”
Also, the same post mentions:
This clearly indicates that the format and depth of activities can vary widely depending on the host and community.
Coming to this post—this is a data-driven analysis of participation trends, not an evaluation of meetup quality, agenda fulfillment, or individual execution. The focus here is on engagement patterns across countries.
Further, different communities evolve differently, and there is space for both structured and informal meetups. It’s important not to generalize or dismiss diverse approaches that contribute to community growth in different ways.
Dear Vikas ji, I would prefer not to go deeper into debating these points within the community, as such topics are highly subjective and widely discussed across many communities.
I am of the opinion that one should focus on doing their best, and that is what I am striving to do. From my observation, Local Guides—whether new or experienced—are doing a great job and contributing in their own ways.
I have already presented this aspect in my analysis—kindly go through the main post for the same. At the same time, I would like to add that if Connect provides a “Going” feature, then it is also our responsibility to understand and analyze how effectively it reflects actual participation. Studies like the present one help in identifying such gaps and creating better awareness within the community.
Regarding this, I would respectfully say that I have not come across such a pattern in my experience.
I believe in the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi—“see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.” If something does not align with my perspective, I prefer to share my viewpoint respectfully without imposing it on others.
Being a teacher, I would simply advise everyone to focus on doing their best and utilizing their full potential, rather than paying attention to what others are doing.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
