Connect Moderators are Local Guides just like you and me. They apply the knowledge they’ve gained as active members of our community to moderate Connect and help improve the experience for everyone. You may see them welcoming newcomers, explaining the program, answering questions, and sharing their knowledge with others.
Each month, we share some personal insights from one of our amazing Connect Moderators. This month, meet @TorM . Torben lives in Germany and speaks German, English, Polish, and Norwegian.

What I love about being a Local Guide: I strongly believe that I support people by making the world more transparent and taking away the fear of social interaction. This makes it much easier for users of Google Maps to come together to explore new and old places.
Why I’m a Connect Moderator: To support like-minded Local Guides around the world makes me happy. I like taking part in the creation of a platform for people from different cultures, but with one common passion. I hope I can support the creation of an open-minded community.
My favorite things to explore: Cities and villages are like a book. These places help me to understand the complexity of the world. Sometimes it is hard to find a nice spot in a city, but just like every person has a beautiful hidden side, so does a city or a village.
My favorite type of contribution(s) to make on Google Maps: Photos are the type of contribution I really like. Sometimes I write reviews and answer questions, too. I haven’t found my way into 360 photo and video contributions yet.
Languages I read/speak/write fluently: German and with some restrictions English, Polish, and Norwegian.
Places I’d like to visit: Argentina (for its magic), Israel (for its sacredness), Nigeria (for its intriguing culture), and Canada (for its nature).
**Fun fact about me:**I have three (3!!!) children who are currently in their teens, which gives me the opportunity to see the world in a different way. I’m lucky to have my wife and my dog around me, to give me some stability.
