Update 3: In October, we’re going to focus on Videography!! And to lead the way, @SP31 is taking charge! To find out what the plans are and how to participate/collaborate, please get in touch with him!! … and… ACTION!
Reviews are one of the core elements of Google Maps and the Local Guides program and as part of the 12 Months of Celebrations, I wanted to put some focus on it throughout the month of September. And, I would like to highly encourage the community to join in and share their thoughts, best practices, examples and also host meet-ups related to review writing!
The past few months have been super busy for me. I’ve attended Connect Live New York (May), gone on a month’s long backpacking across Europe (June), attended EuroMeetup 2025 in Lucca (June), volunteered for the Manchester International Festival (July) and Manchester Pride (August)…so apologies for not being very visible on Connect! I am still trying to get back into a decent routine of work so that I can catch up on everything!
For September, I hope to share some of my travel experiences via reviews, talk about writing reviews for festivals or events that are only on for a specific time of the year, and also host a virtual meet-up to share different review styles, best practices etc. Has my previous review method (F.A.A.C.T.S) stood the test of time or has it evolved yet again?!
And I am also looking for collaborators to join me for September!! Specifically:
co-write a post on Connect for best practices
be a guest on the virtual meet-up to share your review style, why it works for you, challenges of review writing etc; I’m looking for a maximum of 3 guests.
Please help to share this post to your local communities and hopefully we can sort something out for September! And if you’re interested to collaborate with me, feel free to comment below or send me a private message! Or if you want to share your own tips on writing reviews, please go ahead and plan it out for September! Please do tag me so that I can learn from you all too!
Lastly, I am going to be posting some exciting plans for November and December which will heavily rely on the various Local Guides communities! So stay tuned and I will update this post with a link to that post when it’s ready!
That’s such a wonderful initiative, @AdrianLunsong! Reviews truly shape how people discover places and experiences, and your idea of dedicating September to them is inspiring. I really like the F.A.A.C.T.S. method you shared earlier, and I’m excited to see how it has evolved with your recent travels.
Count me in to participate — whether through sharing my review practices, joining the virtual meet-up, or even contributing tips for event/festival reviews. Looking forward to learning and collaborating with fellow Local Guides this month!
@AdrianLunsong What a brilliant idea! I’ve missed seeing you around!
I’d love to help you with writing ideas. I love writing and firmly believe that well-written texts, combined with images, are incredibly helpful for reviews, especially when someone wants to know step-by-step about the place they’re visiting.
I truly appreciate this wonderful initiative to bring more focus on review writing and best practices within the Local Guides community. @Adrian It’s inspiring to see how much thought and effort has been put into creating opportunities for collaboration — from co-writing posts, hosting virtual meet-ups, to inviting others to share their review styles and experiences.
Your idea of involving the community to learn, share, and grow together is commendable. It not only helps new reviewers gain confidence but also motivates experienced ones to refine their skills. The way you’ve balanced your busy schedule with such meaningful contributions shows your dedication and passion for the community.
Thank you for leading this with so much energy and vision. Initiatives like this truly strengthen the bond among Local Guides, making learning more engaging and enjoyable. Looking forward to seeing more of your plans unfold for the coming months!
Happy to note about your travels. I want to know more about co-writing a post and how it works. After my travels last month in Singapore and Malaysia, I have reviewed a few places. Will write a post after I am back from Connect Live Bangalore.
@Roopesh thanks so much for your kind words and encouragement! Do check out the Community Spotlight initiative and get in touch with your community to find out if they are participating and how you can contribute too!
Ooh @Gurukrishnapriya Congrats and do enjoy Connect Live Bangalore!! I’m sure it will be a great experience for everyone!!
There’s been a group discussion earlier in the month so you should see some posts coming through for the rest of Sept. As you might be busy with CL Bangalore, I would suggest that you can just post what you want, when you can.
We’re just asking Local Guides to share their review experiences, tips and tricks and to encourage high quality contributions. Tag me and I’ll link your post to the series! Thanks!!
