Today the “Celebrate with Me” celebrates Leave a Review Day (October 22nd) where the day recognises the importance of the review given by users to the community and small businesses.
Reviews are not just words and stars but an important feedback which helps millions of businesses thrive and helps others to navigate comfortably. Every review gives a purpose and helps & strengthens Google Maps.
Why do we leave reviews?
Reviews can help in aid for a better future. From supporting small businesses to navigate easily and sharing accessibility information , reviews have been a valuable contribution to local guides for 10 years.
But reviews can also have a personal touch and shared journey into our past while visiting. Take a look at this beautiful memory shared by our local guide, @Ruchee2 from her review of a GVD cafe .
"This review is my favorite because it’s deeply personal. When I was working in Jaipur, I used to live just behind GVD, and it was our go-to spot for late-night coffee and endless laughter with friends. I’ve seen this place grow from a small café to the popular hangout it is today. Revisiting it after so many years felt like meeting an old friend - full of warmth, nostalgia, and memories that time can’t fade.”
Reviews can also capture moments and not just locations. They are snapshots of sentences that’ve gotten into our hearts .
If you are looking for how to write and what to include in reviews, I suggest you look into @AdrianLunsong’s Let’s talk about Reviews where the series shares insights on reviews from writing style to sustainability .
Acknowledge Challenge
Our reviews has seen real impact on Google Maps and the series wants to introduce a new challenge : #AcknowledgeChallenge.
We often give reviews to businesses, parks, museums etc.. and the conversation doesn’t end there. Business owners take their time to respond to our reviews which they value for our feedback.
Let’s talk about how to participate
Find a business that has acknowledged and responded to your review . (Reviews from 2025)
Take a screenshot of your review along with the business’s response.
Share it in the comments with a review link before November 8th, 2025 (included) and tell us the story behind it.
More than one participation is accepted as long as the response is impactful.
The challenge is looking for an interesting response!
Let’s have a two way conversation that makes our contributions valuable.
Can’t wait to see the impact on your reviews! Participate in the challenge before November 8th, 2025 and let the community see the impact of your review. reviewschallenge-kick-off
Dear @Rahul001
That’s an excellent initiative. Please find my entries
Hotel Maple Ridge
I stayed at this hotel in April this year during my heritage tour of Agra. They had nice decor, comfortable rooms and wheelchair accessible entrances and washrooms. Even their staff were friendly and the food delicious.
My review for the place.
Reddy’s Dosa
Reddy’s Dosa is a small yet Ve popular eatery nearby my place serving delicious South Indian food since the last 3-4 years. Previously we only had an option to stand and eat, recently they acquired a small seating place. Their taste, care for hygiene and freshness of food really stands out.
Great post on reviews, @Rahul001 !! I appreciate this initiative and the challenge.
I’d like to share a recent, customized acknowledgment I received for my review of Vaibhavam Restaurants & Banquets. It’s so rewarding when a business takes the time to read and respond positively!
I’ve received a couple of these personalized acknowledgments before, and they are always so rewarding.
I’m curious: Is there currently a way for Local Guides to easily identify all the reviews they’ve written that have received a business acknowledgment or reply?
