I am so excited to officially introduce myself to this amazing community. I recently had the incredible experience of attending my first official U.S. Local Guides meetup in Key West. Even though I only met a few of you, the experience was better than I ever imagined! A special shout-out to Denise, the “head honcho” of the event—I felt instantly welcomed. I had been following her content on YouTube for a while, so meeting her in person was a real highlight.
What led me to become a Local Guide:
It started when a business asked me to leave a review. From that moment, I made it my mission to help small businesses gain exposure by sharing my actual experiences. I love helping others find those hidden gems that might otherwise go unnoticed.
What I love to explore:
I love traveling, trying new food, and taking the road less traveled. Whether it’s driving down unmarked backroads or pinning random, interesting spots on the map, I’m always looking for a new adventure. We have traveled as far south as Panama, north to Iceland, and west to Hawaii—and we are just getting started!
A little about my life:
When I’m not exploring, I’m a busy mom to a thirteen-year-old and a seven-month-old. My husband is also a big fan of contributing reviews, though I think he’s more of a “TripAdvisor” person—regardless, we are a family who loves to explore!
A fun memory from the meetup:
Key West is a place I’ve visited many times for my birthday, but celebrating it with a group of people I’d just met was truly special. Everyone sang “Happy Birthday” to me—it was completely unexpected and a moment I’ll never forget. I’m also proud to share that I won the “Wild Card” award at the 2026 U.S. meetup!
I also want to send a huge thank you to everyone who worked so hard behind the scenes to prepare this multi-day function. My hat goes off to the entire team—from the organizers planning the logistics to those handling the “back-end” details that kept everything running smoothly. You made this such a fun experience for a first-timer! Whether it was coordinating the group, capturing ridiculous photos of roosters in the rain, or chasing those beautiful sunsets, you all did a wonderful job! I had such a blast that I immediately started asking how I could get more involved. I’m so happy to be here and can’t wait for the next event!
Hi Friend,
Thank you very much for the encouraging comment. It is true that, I should be introduced myself as a roader than a video or photographic enthusiast. When I started road mapping 10 years back there were plenty of errors in the area around me. That was the inspiration point. Thereafter I realised this is a nice hobby to help people and the economy silently. Anyway now it has become my favourite hobby now.
I would like to thank you again for recognising and encouraging me.
Cheers & regards!
Ajith
