Hello Local Guides Family ![]()
संगच्छध्वं, संवदध्वं — Come together, communicate together!
This timeless mantra comes from the
Rigveda (c. 1500–1200 BCE), composed nearly 3000 years ago, yet its message remains incredibly relevant today.
During the Rigvedic period, the present Delhi–NCR region was part of a broader cultural-geographical zone of early Vedic India. In the later Vedic phase, this region evolved into the Kuru region (Delhi–Meerut–Kurukshetra belt)—one of the earliest organized political regions in India.
The site of Purana Qila (ancient Indraprastha) is associated with the Mahabharata (later Vedic/epic period). Archaeological findings such as Painted Grey Ware (PGW) link this area to the late Vedic age, making it one of the earliest identifiable urban centers of the Delhi region.
🌿 Natural Landscape Then
The region was shaped by the Yamuna river floodplains, surrounded by forests and grasslands—ideal for early Vedic settlements, agriculture, and community life.
Over centuries, this land continued to attract rulers and civilizations, evolving into a historic hub. Today, Delhi–NCR is home to more than 1000 monuments, reflecting its rich and continuous legacy.
Studies in archaeology, river geography, and cultural theory confirm that this region has long been a space of gathering, dialogue, and collective growth—from the Vedic idea of “संगच्छध्वं संवदध्वं” to modern global interactions.
“संगच्छध्वं, संवदध्वं” is the theme of Namaste India Local Guides Summit 2026. When I first came across Summit’s announcement
