T-shirt Design Challenge for Namaste India Summit 2026

Hello LGs,

As you all know, we have already kicked off the Namaste India Summit 2026, scheduled for August 15 & 16, 2026, in Delhi, India. The Indian local guides’ community is already very excited and gearing up for the summit.

To make it more unique and close to our hearts, we decided to conduct many small but important challenges for the community.

I am hereby announcing a fresh challenge in T-shirt design, and we already kicked off the logo design challenge a few days ago for everyone, especially for this landmark event.

T-shirt Design Challenge

Event: Namaste India Summit 2026
Location: Delhi, India
Dates: August 15–16, 2026

Objective

  • Design the “identity.” Wear the “movement.”

  • Design a t-shirt that captures the spirit of India—its culture, energy, and global voice—while representing the vision of the Namaste India Summit 2026.

What Participants Must Design

Primary Requirement

  • Front Design (Mandatory):

    • Choose any aspect ratio from the following:

      • Dimension: 8 in x 8 in (2400 x 2400 pixels for 300 dpi) OR

      • Dimension: 4 in x 12 in (1200 x 3600 pixels for 300 dpi) OR

      • Dimension: 6 in x 10 in (1800 x 3000 pixels for 300 dpi)

Creative Direction

You are encouraged to explore:

  • Minimal, bold, or symbolic styles

  • Clean compositions that scale well

  • Concepts that work across cultures

Elements You May Use (Optional)

  • Namaste gesture (folded hands)

  • Ashoka Chakra (use respectfully and clearly)

  • Subtle tricolor references (avoid overuse)

  • Indian motifs (lotus, architecture, patterns)

  • Typography-led designs

  • Abstract representation of unity/global connection

What Makes a Strong Entry

  • Instantly recognizable

  • Clean and uncluttered

  • Strong from a distance

  • Works on real fabric (not just screen)

  • Emotionally engaging

Design Guidelines

  • Keep it minimal and wearable

  • Avoid excessive detailing

  • Ensure clarity at different sizes

  • Maintain a strong visual hierarchy

  • Design should work on:

    • White (preferred)

    • Dark backgrounds (bonus adaptability)

Samples for reference:

Submission Requirements

  • Use of any copyrighted elements, images, stock photos, icons, or fonts is prohibited. Please ensure that your design is entirely original and that you have permission to use any elements, images, icons, or fonts from third parties.

  • We won’t accept designs produced by AI. Artificial intelligence (AI) tools can be used to create inspiring ideas.

  • All entries must be in either PDF, EPS, SVG, or PNG (300 DPI) format. If you use a particular software to do your designs, please keep your design files. We may have to make some small changes to make sure that the winning design can be shared easily with everyone in an easy-to-edit and print format

  • Do not use just the standard Google branding colors to avoid any close association with that trademark. You can use different tints/tones/shades of the Google colors and add other hues to keep your design fresh and original.

  • Do not use the official T-shirts of Google (or the words “Google”), Google Maps, or the Local Guides program. You can use the local guides community T-shirt.

  • Kindly follow the file naming convention as follows:
If I wish to submit, then my file name would be: “AjitThite-T-shirt-NIS26-01”, i.e., it will include “my connect ID-T-shirt-NIS26-number of submission.”

  • Kindly submit your entries by submitting this form. Make sure that you have followed all the specified details and requirements.

REMEMBER: THE LAST DATE OF SUBMISSION IS JUNE 15TH, 2026, MIDNIGHT.

Do your best, friends!

Just Make Sure:

  • Must be original work

  • No stock T-shirts or copied elements

  • Avoid:

    • Overly complex designs

    • Cluttered layouts

  • Must be readable at all sizes

  • Just remember, any such violations will lead to disqualification

Evaluation Criteria

  • Creativity & originality

  • Relevance to theme

  • Visual impact & memorability

  • Simplicity & scalability

  • Versatility (digital + merchandise)

  • Overall presentation

Winning Outcome

The selected design will:

  • Be worn at the summit

  • Represent the event visually

  • Gain wide visibility across platforms

Creative Push

Design something people don’t just wear—
Design something they identify with.

My humble request to Designers

Be creative. Be proud. Be an Indian. Inspire the world.
Let your design reflect the spirit of India on a global stage.

With warm regards and heartfelt gratitude,

What a fantastic initiative, @Tejal!

This challenge truly goes beyond just designing a T-shirt—it’s about creating an identity that every attendee will proudly wear and connect with.

I really appreciate the clarity in guidelines, especially the focus on minimalism, originality, and cultural representation. It gives designers a strong direction while still leaving room for creativity and personal expression.

The idea of blending Indian elements with a global perspective is especially exciting—this is a great opportunity to showcase how Local Guides from India connect with the world :globe_showing_europe_africa:
