Chai Pe Charcha 🫖 & Ditch Plastic Spoons 🥄 Challenge

Hy Local Guides, :teapot::spoon:

As part of @TusharSuradkar’s Chai Pe Charcha and Ditch Plastic Spoons Challenge of @KetanChhaniyara, I am glad to discover this unique Tea & Idli spot.

Chai Kaari, originally started by a women entrepreneur for the Chai and Idli Lovers community and now spreads into franchises across the Trivandrum district. Chai kaari in Malayalam “ചായക്കാരി” translate to “Tea Lady” in English. They mainly serve traditionally made Chai in steel cups or paper cups with butter Idli. My review to Chai Kaari.

Had normal chai in steel cups. Base cup is used to mix the tea with the sugar added.

@abrahamjoseph236 had Butter Ghee podi idli with Tea without Milk at Chai kaari.

Abraham Joseph is a Foodie Local Guide and I stumbled upon his review on Chaikaari. I met him during my first meetup at Trivandrum.

Sustainable and Eco friendly ways at Chai kaari.

  • Use of disposable wooden spoons.
  • Use of Paper and steel cups of hot drinks.
  • Use of paper plates and banana leaves as plates for food.

Share unique Tea Spots which use disposable wooden spoons to participate in Dutch plastic spoons challenge of @KetanChhaniyara and Chai Pe Charcha of @TusharSuradkar.

This place looks fabulous :+1:

If there were a badge for decent small business discovery, that would go to you, dear @Rahul001

Although the word Kaari is also present in Marathi, the meaning is completely different. In Marathi, Kaari or Kahri means the pattis or crispy bread that goes with the tea.

In fact, we visited a place with the same name in Pune during our meetup at the Fire Station.

The cafe name is also “Chaha Khari”.

The item in the blue circle is called ‘Khari’.

Also, they seem to have done a great job with the eco-friendly plate.
The platter looks delicious too :face_savoring_food:

Our tradition is using fingers and palm of our hand for eating. Unless there is a necessary to use spoon, I use my hand @Rahul001. Very informative post and the challenge properly taken.

Thank you @TusharSuradkar for your kind words.

Well, we local guides won’t be near to how you discover hidden gems.

That’s interesting to know that Chai kaari in Malayalam and Marathi have different meaning even though they typed in the same.

Your meetups, chai and your companionship is what we all dream of having.

Thank you so much, @Rahul001, for your thoughtful post on the Chai Pe Charcha & Ditch Plastic Spoons Challenge!

Your discovery of Chai Kaari, a women-led tea spot embracing sustainable practices, is truly commendable. It’s heartening to see establishments using biodegradable options like wooden spoons.

I appreciate you participating in the #NoPlasticSpoon challenge and for highlighting the eco-friendly cutlery in your Google Maps review. Your efforts contribute significantly to promoting sustainable dining practices.

Thanks for the beautiful logo of the challenge! :green_heart: :folded_hands:
