Hy Local Guides,
From March 2nd to 8th is viewed and celebrated as School Social Work Week in this Women’s Week. As School Social Work Week, we can say teaching is one of the social works our community provides.
I am going to introduce an Active Contributor and a Teacher to the community.
Let’s Meet @Gurukrishnapriya.
Guru Krishna Priya during her travel at Dubai.
Guru Krishna Priya, a Level 8 Local Guide from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. She is also an artist and Teacher by profession and provides counseling & guidances and also done her M.Sc in Psychology and M.Phil in Counseling and Guidance.
Her Typewriting work of word “Local Guides Connect”.
Let’s hear what she has to say:
- What mentored you into being a Local guide?
Answer : I got emails frequently from Google Maps, asking me whether I can join the Local Guides Community. I found it interesting reading the posts there. I started all by myself and took up writing challenges by @AdrianLunsong and @ErmesT. They guided me a lot while reading posts and many Local Guides responded positively. In one of my posts regarding Kanchipuram, one local guide told me that he is from that place and asked me to join the WhatsApp group and also @TravellerG being a key part of introducing into various local guides communities in India.
After joining the group I got a chance to attend the meetups and meet many senior Local Guides. There only I came to know that my posts were trending.
- What inspired you to become a teacher?
Answer : My dad owned a Typewriting Institute and a nursery school. It was in my blood to see my Dad’s turmoil in running these educational institutions which in turn didn’t want me to be a Teacher. In the beginning for about 8 years, I worked in a Coperate Company. Though it was great going, I still wanted to be a teacher.
- How do you create an inclusive and diverse learning environment for your students?
Her Artistic Drawing of Malmö City Library, Sweden.
Answer : My primary teaching was Higher Secondary student and also taught maths and social for primary level upto Secondary level. Then got a chance to work in Art and Craft till 8th Standard and from 9th to 12th standard Typewriting.
This all gave me vast experience in dealing with students of all ages. They had good respect for me and maintained to be obedient.
- Do you see any connections between being a teacher and a local guide?
Answer : Yes. We learn and we Guide. So much to learn. In both places we help our community.
- What messages do you have to share with the community on this women’s day?
Answer : They must know that they are powerful and never give up to achieve their goals.
Thank you Guru Krishna Priya for your valuable and wonderful interview and insight of beinya teacher and a local guide.
